We have a lot of wonderful news to share!

NCVRC is delighted to announce that accountant and recovery mentor Kaiulani Winter and psychologist Dr. Rick Barnett have joined our Board of Directors. Following their addition, in August and September NCVRC's board elected its officers. Michelle Legere was elected president of the board and began her tenure on September 18, while Dr. Betsy Perez was elected vice president, Rick Barnett became the secretary, and Kai Winter was named the board's treasurer. Our fifth board member is influential independent business consultant and author Barry Mirakian.

There is also exciting staffing news. Following an extensive search, we found our next valued team member close to home. Jess Stewart has been hired as NCVRC's fourth staff member in the role of operations assistant. Jess started her career at NCVRC on September 17th after several months as a volunteer. Her primary responsibility will be managing the invaluable volunteer team as well as facility maintenance and inventory management. Additionally, operations manager Daniel Franklin has been promoted to assistant director as of September 20 and will continue to oversee the recovery coaching program, marketing and public relations, programs and services, data management, and other aspects of day-to-day operations while also assisting the executive director in administrative functions. Stay tuned for more news to follow on our social media channels!

We are excited to launch our brand new, fully interactive virtual tour of North Central Vermont Recovery Center! You can view an automated walk-through tour or experience the center as a floorplan or dollhouse view to move around and explore at your own pace.

In our June 7 Recovery Corner we discussed how pleasantly surprised many people are when they come to the recovery center and see what is inside. Now anyone can see why NCVRC is a special, welcoming, safe, substance-free and warm space for healing and connection!

If you've never been to NCVRC and wonder what awaits you, take the virtual tour to see what it's like! If you've been here before, see the center like never before!

We are also excited to share that Vermont Cares is bringing its free, anonymous harm reduction services to NCVRC! Starting October 1st, VT Cares' mobile van will be stationed at NCVRC from 10 to 12 on the first Monday of every month.

Services include syringe exchanges, safe sharps disposal options, Narcan distribution, HIV and HCV testing, safer injection supplies, wound care kits, personal hygiene kits, and referrals as needed. You can learn more about Vermont Cares at https://vtcares.org/

Together, we will save lives. Together, we will reduce the harm of drugs on individuals, families, and communities. Together, we will open doors to recovery. For where there is life, there is hope.

Did you know? We have a regular column in News & Citizen that reaches more than 10,000 households throughout Lamoille County and beyond. Through Recovery Corner we share information about NCVRC, who we are, what we do, and how we help people. But we also hope to educate people about addiction and recovery. Check out our latest article "With Narcan and proper training, anyone can save a life."

NCVRC is always seeking volunteers to be an important and valued part of the work we do as Lamoille County's recovery center.
