NOTES FROM THE DESK OF
STEVE JOHNSON, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
OF THE GREATER BERRYVILLE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
CHAMBER NEWS - September 19, 2018

Photos of the Official
Ribbon Cutting Last Week at La Maya Mexican Grill -- Our official ribbon cutting and open house was held last Friday at the El Maya Mexican Grill in Berryville, welcoming our newest member to the Greater Berryville Area Chamber of Commerce. Thanks to all Berryville Chamber Members and Ambassadors who came out to make it such a great welcome for the restaurant, which is located at 213 N. Main Street. The new owners timed the ribbon cutting date to celebrate that weekend Mexico Independence Day held on Sunday, Sept. 16th, and offered discount deals from Friday thru Sunday for all customers. We are grateful for the support of El Maya Mexican Grill and for the trust and confidence they place in our Chamber, as we do all members of the Greater Berryville Area Chamber of Commerce!  Please check out the photos below of last Friday's ribbon cutting celebration:

El Maya Mexican Grill timed their Grand Opening to coincide with the weekend holiday for Mexico's Independence Day. New Owners Mayra and Miguel Arechiga invited everyone to celebrate with big discounts all weekend long. You can discover more information about El Maya Mexican Grill by clicking on their Chamber Business page, or you can click here to see the El Maya Mexican Grill menu online.

Marketing Workshop Huge Success  -- Many thanks to Bob Moore, publisher of Carroll County Newspapers, for making time to teach a terrific Berryville Chamber Workshop last week, titled: "The 4 P's of Marketing." We had a really good turnout. The information Bob presented was invaluable for any business, non-profit organization, or any venture which relies on targeting an audience, gaining their trust and attention, and getting results. Bob is a great speaker, and entertained everyone who attended, and he shared real-world lessons with the attendees they can put into action immediately.  We plan to capture the slideshow materials and the audio content of his workshop presentation very soon, and make them available online for all members who could not attend. Here are photos from last Thursday's workshop:

Bob captivated the audience with ‘real-world’ advice for creating a marketing mix that helps grow any type of business. This workshop delivered valuable business training for our membership, and we appreciate Bob for his continued personal support of our organization and our mission. If you want to know more about how Bob and his team at Carroll County Newspapers can help your business, visit their website:

BUSINESS TIPS
In this week's "Business Tips" we share why it's a good idea to take your own personal "Business Inventory" as you seek to grow and expand your business:

Time To Grow Your Business? If so… Embrace It!

Think about your business today. Is it where you want it to be? Think in terms of your relationships, your habits, your finances, your spiritual well-being, your work, the way you feel at the end of a hard day. All these things impact on the person you see yourself as being and the direction your professional path is taking.

Remember, if you don’t take control of your business, someone or something else will take control of it for you.

Why not try this: take a business inventory and write down every area of your business that is important to you.

This will take some work. Search the internet, make enquiries to local community groups and look in your local library, stay on the lookout for opportunities to develop new skills or new knowledge in those areas you want to grow in.

Ask yourself these questions…

What are my goals and dreams for my business next year? Five years from now?

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

How do my goals and dreams fit into the circumstances of my business at this moment?

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

What areas do I need additional training in to achieve my goals?

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Who will be the best source of advice to help me take control of areas that are out of control now?

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Where can I find resources to help me achieve my goals?

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Where can I go to find the information I need in order to start my progress towards achieving them?

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

What things in my business need to change so I have time to achieve my goals?

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
What attitudes in my business need to change so I have the intention to achieve my goals?

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

With whom can I share these goals with so that I have someone to be my mentor and cheerleader as I embrace my goals for my business?

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Finding the answer to each of these questions helps you gain insights into yourself and your ambitions and goals, and your answers give you a roadmap to create practical ways to work towards achieving the business you want for yourself in the future.

Networking is an excellent way to connect with fellow business professionals and gain new perspectives in your business practices.

The Greater Berryville Area Chamber of Commerce holds a monthly ‘First Friday Coffee’ networking event the first Friday of each month, hosted at a different local Berryville business.

Make it a point to check the ‘Events’ page on the Chamber website, www.BerryvilleChamber.com, to stay informed of upcoming ‘First Friday Coffees’ and make plans to attend.
