Hello Everyone!

Make sure you click the newsletter link at the bottom of the email for our Fall Fun. We are looking forward to seeing everyone!!
Stay up-to-date with all of our events by checking our calendar on our website: http://www.special-ministries.org/events-calendar.php
There is even a spot to subscribe to it on the bottom right corner!

With the increase in programs and participants, there are so many great opportunities this quarter for our commUNITY HEROS to get involved. Please contact us to see where you can lend a hand. We appreciate your interest as well as the efforts you are making in spreading the word about our organization. As you can see from our growth, you are making a HUGE difference and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all that you do!!

~The Special Ministries' Crew
Looking back on Summer...
We had a very exciting Summer Quarter with over 60 days of amazing events and although it was a summer full of crazy weather, we didn't let that dampen our mood. We asked a few of our participants what their favorite events were and of course, we received lots of answers. Fourth of July Fireworks went off with a huge bang with those that were in attendance, especially by those who had never seen the big show before. Playing ball with Brighton First Presbyterian Church and the Livingston County Sheriff's Office is a big hit every year.
We enjoyed a dancin' good time at all the concerts in downtown Howell. Our time at Taylor's Beach was filled with sunshine, friends, and fun!!
We had a lot of fun this quarter and we cannot wait to fill our days with some more fun this Fall.

You can share in all the memories when you head on over to our facebook page and enjoy our wonderful pictures.  While you are there click "Like" and "Share" with all your friends. www.facebook.com/SpecialMinistriesLivingstonCounty
We had the best time playing softball this summer.
Here is Paul hitting the ball!! Go Paul!!

What Special Ministries means to Andrew...

We are so glad you are here trying out new things with us, Andrew!!

Volunteer Spotlight

We are pleased to introduce you all to the Riccardi Family! It was only fitting to spotlight this amazing couple as we showcased their even more amazing son, Andrew. Tony is currently a purchasing manager at Yazaki, but is scheduled to retire in December and we already have his volunteer shirt waiting for him ;-) Kathy is a preschool teacher at St. Mary Magdalen and absolutely loves watching her 4-year-olds grow and learn. They love traveling in their spare time.
What Special Ministries means to them:
"We were searching for a place where Andrew could be involved in activities that helped him increase his socialization and keep him busy. As Andrew becomes more and more involved in the Special Ministries programming we have witnessed him becoming more outgoing and participating more. We are so very pleased with Special Ministries and the staff. Everyone is so supportive and excepting of Andrew. We are truly blessed to have found this wonderful group."
Tony and Kathy are always willing to lend a hand at every one of our events, even ones that Andrew has not signed up for. They are both huge supporters and love spreading the word about all the cool things we do here at Special Ministries.
Thank you Riccardi's for all that you do!!!

Get to Know Us

Kelsey VanCamp is Special Ministries' newest intern.  She grew up in Brighton and is a BHS 2014 graduate. She is currently attending MSU for Human Development & Family Studies. Kelsey loves hiking, boat rides, and reading. She has 2 dogs, Bella and Poodoe. She loves watching hockey in her spare time. Make sure you say hi when you see her at our events. We are so blessed to have her on our team!

Big Shout Out
We are incredibly thankful for all our commUNITY HEROS that help Special Ministires continue to thrive. This quarter we wanted to give a shout out to one of our supporters that has given a lot of participants courage and determination through the events that they provide for us. Scorpion Fighting Systems joined our list of supporters in the Spring of 2018. We train with owner, James Grey and his amazing crew of athletes to build confidence and empower ourselves to be the best we can be.
At our last training session we even got to train one-on-one with Professional Fighter, Josh Parisian who will be competing on The Ultimate Fighter. We know who will be his biggest cheerleaders, all of us at Special Ministries!
Thank you again Scorpion Fighting Systems!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
***********************************************************************
At the bottom of this email is a link to download our printable newsletter.  Inside you will find descriptions of all our activities, a visual calendar, and a registration form. We will now be sending all participation information forms once a year in the Winter Newsletter. We are doing this because we only need them once a year and it saves us on printing costs. If you have any changes happen throughout the year please contact the office and let staff know immediately. Make sure you fill out your registration and all other paperwork and get it into the office with your payment as soon as possible. LETS  is now requiring us to have our passenger list to them 2 weeks in advance, we appreciate your help in making this happen. Because we offer snack or dinner at our events, it is very important that we know you will be attending well in advance so we can be prepared. Our enews will be filled with a lot of new content along with some of the same old same old. We will have a Participant Showcase section where you will learn fun things about one of our friends. We will also be including a Volunteer Spotlight section to give thanks to those that help us run our events effortlessly, all while having fun. We will have a Big Shout Out section for our community partners that have supported us financially in bringing our fun activities to the disABILITY community. We will have a Get to Know Us section that will be all about getting to know one of our staff or board members.
