We have been very busy since starting in April and many of our projects are now fully underway. Please read on to find out more about some of the pieces of work which has been going on.
Please note that our website is currently still being developed but will be up and running very soon!
Pendle Hill Landscape Partnership Team
The team is now complete, and have all been in post nearly 3 months. We are now based in Clitheroe, off Pimlico Road, but please do say hello if you see us out and about around the area.

Meet you at the top!
Meet us at the top of the hill on Saturday 6th October?
Save the date and watch this space for more information about our big launch event. Meanwhile if you have any photos on the summit of the hill we would love to see them. Past or present – we want your summit selfies, those annual family shots or the ones of our four legged friends!

Pendle Summit
If you go up on the hill today you may get quite a surprise....

Contractors Conservefor have been very busy restoring some of the popular paths on the summit of the hill and dry stone walling master craftsman Phil Dolphin has installed a fabulous dry stone summit shelter. There are also plans for creative Summit Stones and peat restoration in the next few months! This work is supported by RDPE LEADER funding.

New dry stone summit shelter built by Phil Dolphin, which will hopefully shelter from the wind in different directions.
The Hunt for Malkin Tower is over.... for now anyway
Over June and July we supported an archaeological excavation, led by Professor Charles Orser, involving international and local students from UCLan as part of an IFR global field school. The students were on site for 5 weeks at Malkin Tower Farm, and discovered a variety of different artefacts – from 17th century pottery to pieces of flint!

We supported a number of visits to the excavation like this one which involved Chatburn Primary School
Volunteering Opportunities
We would like to say a huge thank you to our volunteers who have been busy over the past few months – walking, working hard on footpath repairs and managing the invasive non-native species Himalayan balsam.
We have lots of different volunteering opportunities within the Pendle Hill Landscape Partnership. Find out more about them here.
Family Learning
Alison is our outdoor learning officer and hopes to engage with people of all ages with activities linked in with all of our different projects. She has organised a number of events during the school holidays, and is looking forward to starting the Little Saplings sessions in September – outdoor fun for children under 5.

Foodie Foray!
The Pendle Hill Foodie Foray is a celebration of local food producers and distinctive local dishes found at the foot of our landmark hill. Starting on Saturday 13th October, the four day programme of walks and talks, which explore the landscape and the wild and cultivated food found within it, will be backed up by some mouth-watering feasts at some of the area's most popular eateries.

Film premieres!
We will be showing two new short films at the launch event. These films have captured the project work so far and introduce some future plans. Northern Heart Films, based in Darwen, have produced a film about the whole scheme, and Catapult films have produced a film focused on the recent archaeological excavation. These films will be made available to watch through our social media channels and website after the launch event.
