Dear friends,
I've spent a few months in Bulgaria this summer and I'm excited to be returning to Philadelphia.  In my capacity as Programs Coordinator at Mascher Dance,  I'm organizing two amazing workshops with Hungarian artists Kata Juhasz and Patrik Kelemen. This is happening this week, so I hope some of you can make it.
In addition I'm showing my film Explicit Female at the Outlet Dance Project festival on October 4th at Grounds for Sculpture. It would be an incredible day of dance at a very special outdoor/indoor place.  More details below.

Contemporary Technique Class with Kata Juhasz

12noon - 2pm

Flowing low - dancing high
The underlying theme of the class is circular motion and its quintessence the spiral.
Get into the centri-fugue state!

Description:
After an exhilarating warm-up, we are going to have some skill practices, developing and experimenting with phrases and creative tasks. The beginning is based on yoga-postures and pilates exercises with a body-mind knowledge that allows body flowing movements in space. All that will be followed by floor work phrases, then the class evolves through standing up step by step with a lot of dancing. Including proper breathing which supports the continuity of the movements, the work is focused on feeling the body, the space and each other from an inner perspective.

Improvisation Workshop with Patrik Kelemen

2pm - 4pm

EXPERIMENTAL ANATOMY,
EMBODYING IMAGINATION,
DANCE AS CORPOREAL FICTION,
NEURO-IDENTITY

How do we interpret a body? What is it really made of?
Can we create bodies? Can bodies create dance?
Is movement bound to the corpus or the other way around?

In this workshop we are to create a fantastic body image that’ll lead our actual corporeal self into dance. Through the deployment of imagination, knowledge on eastern medicine, meridian work and exercises of visualization we aim to reach a state of semi-autonomous movement.

I propose to use non-human figures, which our proprioceptive data may be fed into.

FILM
Explicit Female Film
On October 4th at 7pm, experience an evening of an evening of superb dance films from around the globe, followed by a Q&A with some of the artists, which unfortunately I won't be there for as I need to put the kids to sleep. Its going to be a really amazing evening with films by many international artists.

OTHER NEWS
I'm finally done with editing the notorious 3 year long project. It is called Elsewhere and my long time collaborator and amazing composer Michael McDermott has agreed to score the 7min and 20s film.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will be truly ready by the end of the year, as I'm planning a small public screening before submitting it in the festivals roster.

OFFERING
Looking for Teaching and Performance Gigs
Now that my kids are growing up a bit, I'm looking for more opportunities to teach dance, performance, dance on film and composition.  I'm open to subbing college level classes and can even offer workshops in your communities.  I try to spend summers in Europe and actively looking for gigs there in 2019.  If you or anyone you know is interested in hosting me as a teacher, please let me know.  Any pointers are deeply appreciated.   THANK YOU!  email me at zornitsa(at)herebegindance.com

Best to all,
Zornitsa
