This fantastic building was inspired by the design work of our OBF groups last year, so it's particularly satisfying to be starting construction this autumn. Using the best in traditional and new building techniques along with locally sourced timber this will be our new office and admin building at the Murton site - we'll keep you up to do date!
New Projects starting this Autumn
Re-connect
The lovely people at Natural Resources Wales have provided funding to deliver an exciting new project called 'Re-connect'. We'll be teaming up with ABMU & Swansea University to develop a new, patient-led, inter-departmental approach to healthcare. Most of us have experienced the positive effects of a beautiful natural environment for ourselves, but how important is that effect, and how can we make the most of it? If you work for an ABMU department and you think your patients would benefit, please get in touch with Jon
Moving Forwards
This innovative Big Lottery Fund Wales project addresses three inter-woven and connected barriers to integration and employment faced by asylum seekers and refugees:
• Mental health and wellbeing: The project addresses the mental health of asylum seekers and refugees through meaningful outdoor activity, in particular, accredited sustainable construction programmes.
• English Language skills. “Moving Forwards” will integrate accredited English language courses into the programmes to improve English language acquisition through ‘doing’ rather than classroom-based study – resulting in improved community integration and employment opportunities.
• Improving access to transport through a fleet of e-vehicles providing a zero-carbon community resource to enable free and simple access to the project. Over the duration of the project, participants will be given the opportunity to learn to drive and become the volunteer drivers for the community transport system.
If you work with asylum seekers and refugees and you'd like to get involved in this project please contact Mark
