Supervisor training

Duty of Care for Managers and Supervisors is the new online training course for suprevisors and managers. The aim of this training session is to provide guidance for supervisors in applying the principles of the Workplace Health & Safety Act (2011) and Regulation (2017). In particular this session outlines WH&S responsibilities and duty of care expectations for those in supervisory roles.

This online course details the key principles and strategies for implementing risk management in a practical way and involves writing risk assessments and safe work procedures.

Competency assessment: Each participant is required to successfully complete small quizzes during the course.

Please contact whs-admin@uow.edu.au to receive your registration link.

Fieldwork risk assessments

The risk assessment module within SafetyNet has been modified to include a field work/remote activity screen to capture the hazards and risk controls for this type of work more easily.  The field work/remote activity screen was developed in consultation with stakeholders from SMAH, EIS and SOC.  Feedback on use of the new screen can be sent to whs-admin@uow.edu.au

Building wardens

The University has recently completed its annual test of the fire alarms across the campus. During these tests it was noted that a number of buildings need more building wardens. Building Wardens play an essential role
in the Emergency Control Organisation within the University's emergency plan specifically in relation to our initial response to emergencies, and emergency evacuation of potentially large numbers of people.

If you are interested in becoming a building warden in your area please contact the cheif warden in your area or the whs-admin@uow.edu.au
