Next week we are inviting school parents to our Parents Night Open Houses from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm on these dates:
North Campus- Tuesday, September 11, 2018
South Campus- Thursday, September 13, 2018
The Beginning of the School Year Open House gives you the opportunity to visit your child's classroom and meet his/her teachers. A reminder to all parents that this is not a time to have a conference. If you would like to meet with your child's teacher please feel free to set up a conference with them.
Our teachers are excited to meet with you to discuss their curriculum and what they have planned for your child(ren) this year. It is an important night to hear from the teachers, meet the parents of your children’s classmates, and to join together to start our year as one community.
There will be opportunities to hear more about our school community groups, extracurricular offerings as well as sign up for volunteering in the classroom and for other school projects.
We will begin the evening at 6:30 pm with a prayer and welcome in the north campus auditorium and the south campus gym respectively and will then dismiss everyone to visit their child(ren)’s classroom(s). Please allow for time to visit the information tables so that you can learn more about our school community and all that we have to offer.
This is one of those evenings that help define schools. Good schools rejoice in being together to work on behalf of all kids. Whether this is your first child as a 3 year old or your last in 8th grade, we are better together than we are apart. Come support your kids by making time to support their teachers, welcome new families, and greet old friends.
Also, please consider joining parents from surrounding Catholic Schools for Parent University Night at Mary, Seat of Wisdom School on Thursday, Sept. 27. Mary, Seat of Wisdom is pleased to host the families and staff from the schools in Vicariate II.
The goal of the Parent University Night is to provide information and educate parents on all aspects of their children’s rapidly changing world.
There will be a Parent U Panel Discussion from 7:15-8:15 pm - consisting of various professionals highlighting current trends affecting children now and offering information and resources on trends such as vaping, social media and bullying.
Speakers invited to participate include a psychologist, a middle school teacher (from Melrose Park) and a police officer. Q&A session included.
All parents and teachers are invited.
It has been a great start to the school year, and the faculty, Mr. Argamaso, and I look forward to seeing you all next week.

FIRST RAFFLE DRAWING COMING UP SEPTEMBER 19
Be sure to get your tickets sold and returned to the school office by 9 am on September 19 in order to have them included in all 8 drawings for the year! Remember that once you have paid for your tickets on FACTS they belong to you and when you sell your tickets you will keep the money. JUST return the sold tickets. We will Facebook Live the first drawing at 2 pm on Wednesday, September 19 and every third Wednesday after that until our final drawing in April!

We are inviting Grandparents and Special Friends (aunts, uncles, or a special neighbor) to school. We will start Grandparents’ Day with 8:30 a.m. Mass followed by activities at the school until 10:30.
Pre-K students will be at Mass and their Grandparents will are invited to participate in the morning's events as well!

THE QUEEN AND THE POPE WALK INTO PORRETTAS...
Sounds like the start of a classic joke, but it's actually the start of a fundraiser with HUGE potential that can bring in considerable funds from OUTSIDE of the school!
Have you heard of the Queen of Hearts Raffle? The basic idea is laid out above. More information will come as we draw closer, and the full rules, terms and conditions will be posted on our website and at Porrettas. (our board will be purchased from an outside company, pre-assembled and hermetically sealed...and we'll keep it under glass between drawings).
The owner of each week's ticket drawn will receive $50 if their number didn't reveal the Queen of Hearts. This could go on as long as 54 weeks with the pot rolling over and building each week! Or, the Queen could be revealed in the first week (minimum take will be a guaranteed $250). Winner NEED NOT BE PRESENT!
We could use everyone's help getting the word out! Once the information is posted on FB or on our website, please share, share, share!
Meanwhile, practice your bows and curtsies in case you get a chance to MEET THE QUEEN!
