Youth News
Youth News is a regular email service which provides sectoral news alongside programme and funding opportunities. It is circulated to a readership of 500 including youth clubs, regional voluntary youth organisations, government departments, MLAs, Education Authority, policy makers, practitioners, sponsors and various grant giving trusts and foundations. Project Workers (Part-time, Fixed-term)
 
Boys and Girls Clubs, is seeking to appoint two part-time Project Workers for a new health & well-being project entitled, Do Something Active.  The project will be completed  by 31st March 2019.  Project staff team will be based at our Belfast Office at 22 Stockman's Way, Musgrave Park Industrial Park.

World Suicide Prevention Day


10th September 2018 is World Suicide Prevention Day. On average every year 300 deaths are a result of suicide in Northern Ireland, 74% of which are male. You may be affected or know someone who has been affected by suicide.

Health NI are encouraging you to make a difference to your workplace and support their Suicide Prevention campaign by sharing information with staff or by organising an awareness session on topics such as mental wellbeing and stress control.

Vice Presidents Memorial Awards 2018


Boys & Girls Clubs would like to acknowledge and reward young people within our membership, who are dedicated to youth work and volunteering.

Boys & Girls Clubs will present two VP awards this Autumn which you can nominate a young person for;
  • The Paddy Duffy Award, which will be awarded to a young person for exemplary participation in youth work.
  • The Jackie Maxwell Award, will be awarded to an exemplary voluntary young leader, to assist their leadership skills in sport.
In addition to winning an award, each successful nominee will receive a bursary of up to £250 to assist their personal development and to help and support other young people and local communities.

Glow Bright this October for Autism!

Victoria Park Belfast will be glowing bright on Friday 19th October as Autism NI host their first ever Glow Walk.

Autism NI CEO Kerry Boyd stated: “October can be a dull month, but we’re excited to be lighting up the night with our Glow Walk, which is to ‘highlight’ autism as a hidden disability and raise awareness in the wider community.' 
 
This 5K walk begins at 6.30pm in Victoria Park and families are asked to support Autism NI by wearing neon fancy dress and pledging to raise £75 per family. This will be a fun evening for all ages and a chance to glow bright for autism.

‘LID+’ is a year-long programme of free services and events that promote, inform and provide access to and support your potential involvement in the Erasmus+ Programme. 

The Inside Out Programme, Claudy are seeking participants in their Training programmes in Austria.
  • CRE-ACTIVE, 3rd (arrival day) – 10th (departure day) October 2018.
  • Humour is Serious Business: 5th (arrival day) – 12th (departure day) November 2018.
  • reActive, 10th (arrival day) – 17th (departure day) December 2018.
Food and Accommodation is provided as well as a Travel Allowance of up to €275 which is funded by the Erasmus+ Programme.

Boys & Girls Clubs is a Voluntary Youth Headquarter Organisation that works to support and represent a membership of over 150 youth clubs and youth organisations with a collective membership of some 15,000 young people across Northern Ireland.  Working alongside our membership and network we involve, support and enable young people, particularly those from disadvantaged and less fortunate backgrounds, to participate in positive activities, new experiences and learning opportunities.
