The Connemara Lads, straight from County Clare, Ireland, have arrived in Iowa for the first international AgArts Farm-to-Artist Residency at the New Hope Farm near LaMotte. New Hope Farm is a small, diversified farm nestled in the bluffs of the Mississippi River valley south of Dubuque, Iowa. The farm is a retreat and educational center serving individuals and groups, including the staff and guests at Hope House and the Dubuque Rescue Mission.
|
New Hope is 35 acres of woods, pasture, fertile gardens with a creek running through it. The farmers tend a small dairy herd, a flock of 30 laying hens, three wooly sheep, and many, many veggies!
The Connemara Lads are in residence for two weeks, learning about diversified agriculture and composing a tune about the farm that will be left in Iowa for other musicians to play!
