According to a study by Deloitte on student perceptions of manufacturing, 84% of students involved in Manufacturing Day activities came away "more convinced that manufacturing provides careers that are interesting and rewarding" and 64% were "more motivated to pursue a career in manufacturing." While not a "cure" for the current and growing workforce shortage, Manufacturing Day offers a great opportunity to raise awareness among tomorrow's employees, as well as the public in general, about the interesting variety of products, from food to photonics, contributing to our state's economic well-being. Training Funds Available
Are you a manufacturer who could use some funds to offset training expenses for your employees? The Incumbent Worker Training Grant offered through the Department of Labor may be the program to help you reach your training goals. IWT has funds available spread throughout the year (every quarter: July 1, October 1, January 1, and April 1), and funds are available now! If you have previous experience with the program, the application process is now more streamlined and is accomplished online. For additional program guidelines, please visit iwt.mt.gov, where there is also a link to fundingmt.org which is the platform for application management. Please feel free to contact the program director, Shawn Andersyn, or your local Job Service with any questions.
