GOPAC session at the 18th International Anti-Corruption Conference
Dear GOPAC Member,
On behalf of the Global Organization of Parliamentarians Against Corruption (GOPAC), we would like you to consider attending the GOPAC's session at the 18th International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC) in Copenhagen, Denmark from 22-24 October 2018.
The International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC) is the world’s premier global forum for bringing together heads of state, civil society, the private sector and more to tackle the increasingly sophisticated challenges posed by corruption. Established in 1983, the IACC takes place usually every two years in a different region of the world, and hosts from 800 to 2000 participants from over 135 countries worldwide. This year’s theme is “Together for Development, Peace and Security: Now is the Time to Act.”
GOPAC’s session, “Parliamentarians Acting Now in Partnerships”, will be held at the IACC Day 2, on October 23. The complete agenda for the IACC will be released in coming days at this link.
Unfortunately, GOPAC has no funding to assist parliamentarians with travel or registration costs. At previous IACC’s, parliamentarians have sought assistance from their Parliaments and development partners.
The IACC welcomes approximately 1.500 people to each conference and anyone is welcome to register to participate. Registration details, including a reduced fee for those who register before September 10, is available at this link. GOPAC is unable to process or assist with your registration which must be made directly with the IACC.
GOPAC is also sending a letter to our members’ Speakers, asking that their parliaments fund registration, travel and accommodation for parliamentarians to attend the IACC and the GOPAC session there. We recommend that you similarly take the initiative to approach other national, regional, or international funders; we regret that GOPAC is not able to defray travel costs to these events. We urge all parliamentarians who have received funding and registered to attend IACC contact us so we can assist GOPAC members to share their experiences and learnings at IACC.
