Fall 2018...our best yet!



It all started on August 4th this year. That's when Virginia Union freshman moved to Richmond. Virginia Commonwealth University's largest ever freshman class arrived 2 weeks later and Chi Alpha was there to meet them! We dove into a week of connecting and events we called Mission RVA (Richmond, VA). Our Chi Alpha staff and student leader team began every day with worship and prayer and hit the streets around our campuses to find the students Jesus loves. We met a record number of them--933 to be exact! We've had great groups of students at all our events and even more importantly, we seen a number of them give their lives to Jesus. 

At the end of September we took the largest group ever to our fall retreat. It was a powerful weekend of worship, reflection and cementing relationships with Jesus and each other. It was capped off by 5 students stepping forward to be baptized. What a celebration!

Around the House
 

It's been a bit of a crazy start to the school year. The leftovers of both Hurricanes Florence and Michael swept through our area dropping a lot of rain and canceling classes for our students and our kids. I'm currently writing this newsletter from our office with the kids borrowing outlets for their devices--the power is out at our house!

When it's not raining, the kids are busy with school activities: Sam has a packed marching band schedule and Levi and Nate are acing their classes and enjoying time with their friends both on and off-line. Picture above is a proud moment for me: Sam getting ready to sit in on the drums for the first time at our Chi Alpha worship meeting. He rocked the house!
