CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE
1) SIGNIFY! GO AHEAD, BRAG A LITTLE // ASHAKI M. JACKSON
In the African American culture, to signify means to competitively brag about yourself (think rap battles). In this workshop, we will explore the best of ourselves. Examine who we are and who we want to become by writing poems of our greatness – real and imagined.
2) BRING THE HEAT & DROP A BEAT // MILA CUDA & AUSTIN ANTOINE
Poetry and rhyme go together like popsicles and summertime. This workshop will bring the heat while keeping a beat. Explore techniques such as slant rhyme and alliteration to enhance the euphonic elements of our spoken word. Blend the flow of poetry with the showmanship of hip hop. Make melancholy more musical by juxtaposing it with your jovial jukebox.
3) #ONBRAND // MONIQUE MITCHELL & ANDREW DAVID STEWART
Your Instagram feed is your portfolio. Your twitter, a public diary. What story are you telling? Learn how to curate the story-of-you in order to attract future clients and sponsors in this workshop. Why post for free? Turn your passion to profit all while remaining authentic and #onbrand.
4) VIDEO SLAM // SAMUEL CURTIS
Lights. Camera. Action. Join us for an interactive film screening for the next generation of visual storytellers, filmmakers, and content creators. Previously submitted student short films will be screened, evaluated and given live-feedback from our panel of industry professionals.
