Webinar recordings provided by ProQuest, Britannica and TeachingBooks.net

The K-12 Online Content Project includes training webinars from the three providers. Missed one you were really interested in? No problem! Take a look at the recordings and catch up. Overview video about teacher librarians
Not everyone knows about the importance of school librarians and how they can enhance the usage and understanding of these K-12 online resources. The California School Librarians Association released an overview video a few years back about how school librarians enhance the educational experience. Utilize this overview, titled "Does Your School Have a Teacher Librarian?" to present the importance of information literacy and resources like these in the K-12 online content project.

The sign-ups keep coming
Even more districts have signed up for access for these resources. Need to know if a particular district or groups of districts still need to fill out the form? Check our list. Remember, access to the resources from ProQuest, Encyclopedia Britannica and TeachingBooks.net require technical information to be provided on a district-by-district basis -- or in the case of charter schools, school by school.

And now the list of districts can be viewed by county. Take a look!
  • Want to provide the technical information? See FORM
  • Want to see if your district still needs to fill out the form? See LIST (school districts only, with the second tab organizing the data by county)

The following article ran in the last few issues of this eNewsletter, but it's good info and the training is coming up, so we're repeating it.

Recursos en Español para padres * Spanish resources for parents
Encyclopedia Britannica is offering a special evening webinar for Spanish-speaking parents for their resource Britannica Escolar on September 18, 19 and 20. The entries and information in the Britannica Escolar resource are written in native Spanish (not auto-translated by computer). This site may be utilized by Spanish-speaking parents wishing to assist their little ones with homework, but who felt intimidated because the homework is conducted in English. The resources is great for subject-specific work (history or science, for example), as well as for Spanish-speaking English language learners. Times are in the evening (6pm or 7pm) – perfect for school and district English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) meetings.
  • Tuesday, September 18, 7:00 pm: REGISTER
  • Wednesday, September 19, 7:00 pm: REGISTER
  • Thursday, September 20, 6:00 pm: REGISTER
(Quick note: Remember, all these resources in general can be used by parents and students who speak a language other than English by utilizing the built-in auto-translate tools available in dozens of languages. These can be quite useful, as long as readers can forgive the awkward translations and recognize some responses aren’t perfect. Britannica Escolar is a little different because the entries are written in Spanish, but all the resources are useful for English language learners, educators, and parents.)
