What's Happening with EdTech EASE this Month

Started doing challenges with the middle school students at one of our client schools. So fun to watch their excitement as they figure out an approach to solving the challenge.

Updated our Teacher Innovation Day workshop that we will be presenting twice in October. Going to focus on student created graphics to demonstrate their understanding of a topic or voice their opinion.

Finalizing our two November workshops! The FAME (Florida Association for Media in Education) Literature Lassos workshop will help give teachers a bunch of books that will facilitate discussions, challenges and multiple areas of the curriculum. The FCIS (Florida Council of Independent Schools) focuses on how to integrate Digital Citizenship into classrooms.

You do not need expensive apps or software licenses to get started with mind-mapping and diagraming, here are three FREE resources to explore:

https://www.draw.io - (Free/Open Source) many nice templates to work from. Works in cloud, has a desktop version for working offline.

Google Drawings - http://bit.ly/2RhVLzQ - (Free)  App is chrome extension, works with Google Drive.

GraphViz: http://graphviz.org (Free/open source) This one is for the more tech savvy users, you will need to compile or use a ports manager to install. (Great learning opportunity for those who want to unlock the world of open source..

As I finish the ISTE Learning class, Digital Citizenship in Action, I have been re-evaluating my thoughts on teaching Digital Citizenship. Check out the blog post I wrote about this: http://edtechease.com/index.php/blog/intentional-add-on.
