With the High Holidays in mind, I asked you a couple of weeks ago: How are you heading into the new Jewish year? What more are you calling out for? What potential are you hoping to fulfill?
I appreciated your original responses, and I wanted to share one more vulnerable reflection that came through this past week:
🙏 I’m heading into this new year with hope that my cancer treatment is working, that I can be more patient, and that I can be a better listener.
When I read through all of your new year reflections, I felt the trust and vulnerability and hope that exist in Arq's community.
Did you know that community is an essential element - an obligation, in fact - of Jewish practice? I'm reminded that this time of year when I say al chet on Yom Kippur and publicly take responsibility for my own misdeeds, as well as of those of my peers, and when I eat a meal under the leafy branches of a sukkah and celebrate the Jewish harvest festival that represents gathering, giving, and gratitude.
Let's keep supporting each other.
Who's got tips for this Arq community member, who reached out to me recently?
🗽 I live in Williamsburg, NYC and was wondering if you have any guidance on conversion to Judaism. I am looking for a spiritual, intellectual, Reform rabbi!
What do you need from Arq's community? Email your request to hey@thisisarq.com.
