Letter Focus:  I

THEME:  Community Helpers / Safety

Bible Verse:

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.  Romans 8:28

Learning Objectives:

1. We will learn about different types of jobs and the responsibilities of different community members.
2. We will take on roles of different community helpers based on interests and experiences.
3. We will experience and produce 3D art.

Teacher Notes:
Our dinosaurs have gone on vacation after a very busy week! We hope your child came home with lots of interesting stories about erupting volcanoes, fossil digs, and our dinosaur cave. We did the Dino Pokey and practiced positional understanding. Play a game with your child by hiding a toy or object, then use a variety of  positional words  (behind, next to, under, on top, over, etc.) to describe its location. I bet they'll do a fantastic job finding it!
We also enjoyed chapel with Pastor Groth on Monday, process art, learning the letter T, and conducting several science experiments.
This week we are gearing up for our unit on Community Helpers and Safety. We are looking forward to our visit from the Lexington Fire Department on Wednesday morning! Also, keep an eye on your mailbox, you may receive a special surprise later in the week:)

  • Thanks to all that brought in examples of environmental print. Please remember us if you come across anything this week with the letter "I".

Important Dates to Remember:

FREE EARLY READING SCREENING AVAILABLE
KINDERGARTEN- 3RD GRADE

The Learning Center at The Lexington School is pleased to announce an outreach initiative that offers free early reading screenings to children in grades kindergarten to third grade

The free screenings will be offered on Wednesdays from 1:30-5:00 P.M. at the school beginning October 17, 2018. The screenings take approximately 45 minutes to one hour. Parents will leave with feedback, as well as recommendations, for home and the classroom. This is a good first step for parents and teachers who think that their child may have a language-based learning difference. The screenings do not provide a specific
diagnosis.
