Hello you lovely lot
x
A very merry Halloween to you all!
Dressed Like Wolves

Old Muggins

Parlours

Our boyos Dressed Like Wolves are coming to play in their home-from-homes(s);
The Spooker Rekkids Attic.

If you've met the DLW lads, you'll know that they bloody love Halloween - especially that there Rick Dobbing - so we've put together a special evening to celebrate ghosts & stuff. Rick loves to sing about ghosts.

We tracked down the brilliant Old Muggins who'll
be  joining us with their self-proclaimed sinister light entertainment and wonkabilly, synth-core, doo-wop; as well as the elusive Parlours who's coming along to play us some wonderfully disconcerting soundscape'y tunes.

We figured we should do something a bit different for Halloween too. So we're gonna stick around after the music ends, cosy up with some blankets, popcorn, and hot chocolate*, and pop on a scary film. We'll let you know what it'll be when we've picked one.  All are welcome to stay for this, no extra charge! Though you might have to sit next to a couple of ghosts. That's cool, right?

So yeah, it's gon' be a good night! You can even come in fancy dress if you like. We will be!

*can be made Irish if requested ;)

Our November and December shows are also going to be bloomin' wonderful...

Newcastle-based Martha Hill makes 'not shit pop'.

After growing up as one of six siblings on a remote Scottish peninsula, where the only link to the mainland was via ferry, she left home at 17 and spent two years touring across Europe as a street musician.

Eventually relocating to north-east England and falling in with a local ‘scene’ for the first time, Martha and her band have spent the past year touring all over the UK - supporting the likes of Holy Moly & The Crackers and Let's Eat Grandma at venues such as Borderline, The Cluny etc. - with two DIY tours of Europe falling in between. She even played The freakin' Sage last month supporting Maximo Park and Field Music, along with a big effing orchestra behind her! What a gal! Go Martha!

Her debut single ‘Spiders’ was released in June 2018 and has been championed by The Line Of Best Fit, BBC Radio 6 Music & Spotify amongst others, while her second single 'Wallflower' just came out a few days ago! You can listen to both on Spotify (and other places) right now -- & we highly recommend you do. She's bloody great.

Support for the show comes from these two beauts: George Boomsma and Andrew Smith.

George is returning to the attic after a sold-out show back in February when he released his latest album 'Do Something With The Night'. We can't wait to hear more loveliness from him (we've missed ya, George!)

Also very chuffed to be bringing Hartlepool-based Andrew Smith to the attic too, with his guitar-based-pop DIY music project that was both written and recorded from home. We love that.

Harri Endersby

From acoustic to electronic, Harri Endersby blurs the lines of the folk genre, drawing inspiration from both contemporary and traditional music, as well as the rugged landscape of County Durham, the place that she calls home.

Her debut album Homes/Lives, released in February 2017, has impressed critics around the country and she has had tracks played on BBC Radio 6, Radio Scotland, and Radio Wales. Homes/Lives presents a transition in style, beginning with acoustic, stripped-back tracks whilst gradually introducing electronic instrumentation and beats as the album progresses.  This interweaving of genres has been inspired by Harri’s love of Icelandic electro-folk and the likes of Ásgeir and Samaris.

At live gigs, Harri is joined by husband Rich, who also plays guitar and percussion.

Her 5-track EP ‘Ivy Crown’ released in 2014, rose to #17 in the iTunes singer-songwriter charts and had tracks played on BBC Newcastle Introducing, The Folk Show on Bishop FM, and Roger
William’s ‘World of Difference’. Her album 'Homes/Lives' was released on the 25th February 2017.

“Musically brilliant storytelling song-writing at its finest is what Endersby and her group deal in.”

James Kruman

Hailing from the industrial town of Middlesbrough in the North East of England, James
Kruman seems to have been influenced heavily by his working-class environment. His unassuming poetry is blended with a quirky fusion of psychedelic rock from the 60s and folk music to create a brutally honest, soul-stirring soliloquy you won’t find elsewhere.

Dymphna

Spooky. Beautiful. Soul-baring. Emotive. Honest. Twinkly. Clare.

Just in case you didn't know, we also make this podcast where we chat with the bands who come to play in the attic. They even record a track or two for us!

You can listen to all of the episodes on Mixcloud. Here's the latest one.
