Friday Food Ministry

at St. Thomas's

Good Morning Friends!

We have finished our sandwich service for 2018! Thank you to all the diligent volunteers who helped out to make this past summer possible including all those who shop, prepare food during the Thursday Bees, and help on Fridays. 

The time has come to shift gears to Thanksgiving. This is a major event for the FFM and a highlight for our guests, and we need all the help we can get to make this a success. This year, Thanksgiving will be on Monday, 8 October, but the work begins even before the Thanksgiving Monday.

We will be receiving 18 turkeys from Royal St. George's College, and we need help cooking them before Thanksgiving! You can help us do this in many ways:
(1) Cooking a turkey at your home and bringing it to St. Thomas's on or before Thanksgiving. We can either supply you with a turkey, or you are welcome to donate a cooked turkey to us.
(2) We will be cooking turkeys all day Saturday 6 Oct and Sunday 7 Oct in the parish kitchen at St. Thomas's. You can help by volunteering to do a shift of turkey cooking during those days.

We do have guests that are vegetarian, and so we will need 2-3 vegetarian entrees for our vegetarian guests. 

In addition we will need volunteers to assist with shopping to get the ingredients needed for side dishes, appetizers, drinks, and desserts.

Finally, we will need a great deal of help on Thanksgiving Day. We will be operating multiple shifts that day from 9:00AM to 5:30PM, and you are welcome to sign up for any or all the shifts:
9:00AM-12:00PM First Prep Shift
12:00PM-3:00PM Second Prep Sift
3:00PM-4:30PM Meal Service (Most volunteers needed)
4:30PM-5:30PM Clean up
