AT Tip: Try Incorporating a Slant Board

The SoonerStart AT Assessment Kit includes a slant board that can be used in various ways. It can be utilized for visual tracking when performing coloring tasks, peg puzzles, or seek and finds. Visually tracking at an angle may reduce eye strain and decreased fatigue. The slant board, during writing and coloring tasks, promotes wrist extension for increased positioning of writing utensils.

The slant board can also be used for improved attention to tasks by creating a contrast for materials while providing a more comfortable angle. Other benefits include improving core strength and shoulder stability by laying prone while performing activities on the slant board. Try this simple low tech device and get creative with Wiki Sticks to craft a picture on the slant board surface to increase imagination and communication.
