Friends of Cedar Creek Annual Meeting

7:00 - 8:30 pm Speaker: Dr. Jerry Sweeten, Phd.  

Topic: Research regarding removal of low-head dams and fish passageway structures, especially in Cedar Creek at the Mackle preserve.

Dr. Sweeten has a PhD degree from Purdue University in Aquatic Biology. He has been with the Manchester College Biology department since 2004 teaching Principles of Biology, Liminology, Invertebrate Zoology, Environmental Science, Marine Biology, and Ornithology. Dr. Sweeten's current interests include the effects of non-point source pollution on stream fishes, long-term biological monitoring of coral reef fish, population trends and dynamics of Black-Capped and Carolina chickadees, nesting habitat and population dynamics of Eastern Towhees. Research regarding removal of low-head dams and fish passageway structures. Freshwater mussel research. Jerry is also a member of the American Fisheries Society, Ecological Society of America, and Ecological Restoration Society.
