Hi <<First Name>>,

Custom colour treatments, from subtle hues to bold shifts, make these four retouching projects stand out.

Check out definitive cars from the 90s and their modern drivers with photographer duo BAM, keep the streets safe with Nick Meek's Nissan Micra campaign, dream about a self driving BMW with J.Konrad Schmidt and rethink your workout routine with Jean-Yves Lemoigne for Men's Health.

Enjoy,

Christoph

Hocke - BAM

Hocke - BAM

'Hocke' (German for squat) - a revived 90s hip-hop pose, trending on instagram and in fashion editorials - is the title of a series by BAM, aka Ben and Martin. The two photographers portrayed chilled car lovers, posing with a vintage Golf Mk1 and a Toyota Tazz on the beaches of Muizenberg, outside of Capetown.

South African manufacturing plants were the last ones to build the entry level cars up until the late 2000s and both models are still hugely popular today, greatly defining the streetscapes of the cities. All bare bones and boxy, these affordable cars are like blank canvases that can be driven as they are or pimped out and completely converted under the hood to challenge modern supercars for a race. Our Stuttgart team refined the colours to match the feel of this hip series. Head to our website to see more of this series which was exhibited at a gallery in Cologne.

Sci-fi stylings with bold colour shifts make for an appropriately futuristic piece of work for BMW's Personal Copilot system: “a new dimension – and vision – of autonomous driving”.
Dissolving glitchy colours give a holographic feel to the portrait and unify it with the cityscapes, which were constructed from a blend of Miami, Barcelona & Munich. Patterns of pixels and streaks work to suggest data flowing between the copilot system and the urban environment, evocative of the dynamic and evolving new technology of the system. Nissan - Nick Meek

Nissan - Nick Meek

Intelligent electronic features, formerly confined to high-end vehicles are now enhancing the compact car market. The latest Nissan Micra comes with an impressive list of standard safety equipment. Each image of this campaign highlights a different feature - in this case the automatic emergency braking system.

For almost two decades Nissan has entrusted TBWA with their brand. For several years our London team has had the pleasure of close collaborations with Nick Meek and agency creatives to realize their concepts, while maintaining a strong established look. Having two of our retouchers on set helped hugely with an extremely tight timeline. As the images needed to fit a variety of formats we had to work with enormous files, adding and stitching architecture and other elements to the edges of the original framing, while adjusting perspectives to match the camera angles. More images of this campaign on our website.

Men's Health - Jean-Yves Lemoigne

Jean-Yves Lemoigne loves to experiment with bodies in motion. Based on some of his personal work Men's Health Magazine assigned him to create imagery for a story about slowing down the pace in tempo training in favour of muscle gains. While experienced in creating chronophotography in camera, the photographer opted to have our NY team assemble the multiple exposure effect in post for this agile project.
