Updates from CAMX 2018

Last month, several members of the IACMI team traveled to Dallas alongside hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of industry professionals for the Composites and Advanced Materials Expo (CAMX). Bigger than ever before, CAMX provided the opportunity for IACMI to present latest developments in composite manufacturing innovation from its team of technical experts, partners, and industry leaders. Read the full CAMX 2018 recap here.

Researchers and IACMI interns at the Fibers and Composites Manufacturing Facility (FCMF) at the University of Tennessee Tickle College of Engineering drive industry-leading research to learn more about the decomposition of composites created through various manufacturing methods. This FCMF research group was awarded CAMX 2018 Best in Track: Green & Sustainability” Outstanding Technical Paper Award for a related project.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
Vartega, Michelman, and team kick off IACMI project to close the loop on automotive carbon fiber prepreg manufacturing scrap
IACMI announced a project to close the loop on automotive carbon fiber prepreg manufacturing scrap for use in new automotive applications. The project is led by Vartega, a start-up company focused on carbon fiber recycling, with project partners including MichelmanOak Ridge National LaboratoryColorado School of MinesMichigan State University, the University of Dayton Research Institute, and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Additional project support is provided by FordBASF, and Plasan Carbon Composites. Learn more about the project here.
