Goizueta Business School's MBA Admissions Office Information Session
Wednesday, October 10, 2018, 12: 30 p.m., Room 5E
Goizueta Business School's MBA Admissions Office will be hosting an Information Session on Wednesday, October 10th at the Law School.  If you are seeking a broader educational base, please attend to learn more about the MBA Program, admission requirements, and hear from current JD/MBA students about their experiences.

The JD/MBA Program can be pursued through one of several formats.  You can spend your first year in the Law School, your second year in the Business School, and your third and fourth year taking electives in both schools. It is possible to start at the Business School after your second year of Law School, but this may limit some of your elective choices. In this option, the joint degree will take four years and allow for three summer internship opportunities.

It is also possible to start our One-Year Program immediately following your first or second year of law school. Beginning in the summer, you complete three sequential semesters before returning to the Law School. In this option, you may complete the dual degree in three and a half years and graduate in December; however, the structure only allows for two summer internships instead of three. Please join us to learn more.
Call for Applications - IP Society - Giles Sutherland Rich Moot Court
The American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) conducts the Giles Sutherland Rich (GSR) Moot Court competition every year. The competition generally involves one or more issues of patent law and may involve trademark, copyright and litigation issues. Teams must prepare both a 30-page appellant's brief and a 30-page appellee's brief. Teams also participate in an oral argument competition.

Emory’s GSR Moot Court program is run by the IP Society’s GSR Moot Court Committee in conjunction with Emory faculty advisors. Each year, Emory selects two (2) teams with two (2) students per team to compete – submitting briefs in early February and competing in the Atlanta Regional oral argument competition in March. Competing team members are eligible to earn 1 Pass/Fail Credit in Spring.

All rising 2Ls and 3Ls are invited to apply for the GSR Moot Court 2018-19 season. We are currently seeking members for one (1) competing and one (1) alternate team. The alternate team will read and provide feedback on written briefs and act as bench judges during oral arguments practice. In return, alternate team members are guaranteed a spot on a competing team for the following season.
Written application materials: Your application must include the following:
• Law School Resume
• One-paragraph statement explaining your interest in participating
• Writing sample – preferably your 1L legal brief (with name removed)
• An indication of which competition or competitions interest you

The written application materials deadline is on Friday, September 28 at 11:59PM. Applications should be submitted to Kimberlee Thompson.

Oral advocacy exercise is tentatively scheduled for the week of October 22-26, 2018.

Selection Process:
GSR Moot Court team members will be selected based on a combination of enrollment and satisfactory performance in intellectual property law courses; other experience or interest in intellectual property law; experience in moot court or related courses, if any; evidence of excellence in writing; evidence of commitment to representing the school in an external competition; and oral advocacy skills.
