Pupil Learning Plan Meeting
We are having our Autumn Term Target Setting (PLP) Day on Friday 5th October. Appointment details will be sent out next week. Please attend this important opportunity to review your child’s Personal Learning Plan and set new targets with the tutor and your child. Only years 7, 8, 9 will be in school as we will be having an alternative curriculum so that teachers can hold the meetings with parents.
Online Safety
Keeping up to date with on line safety can be difficult for parents and carers. You may a set of guides from the people at National Online Safety a help. Click here for the guides to a number of apps and platforms. As always, anyone worried about on line abuse can report it to CEOPS
Medical Appointments
It would be very helpful if parents could give the school advance warning of any medical appointments their child may have. If we know when you need to collect your child early we can ensure that they are ready when you arrive so that you are not kept waiting. If the appointment is in the morning and the child will not be in until later or will be out all day then we need not bother you with telephone calls asking where your child is. Wherever possible please send in a copy of your child's appointment card or letter if you have one. Thank you for your support with this. Please try and make appointments in school holidays where this is possible.
Emergency Contact
Due to a change in safeguarding regulations that came into force at the start of term, in addition to parent/carer details, we must have at least two other persons as emergency contacts for all our pupils. These people could be parents, a sibling aged over 18, aunts, uncles etc.
It is vital that we are able to get hold of a contact person in the case of a pupil emergency or illness. In the past we have had issues in contacting parents or guardians, which not only creates concern for the school but also makes pupils anxious.
The Keeping Children Safe in Education September 2018 document guidance has full details.
Therefore, we will be requesting this information from all parents/carers shortly. PLP day would be an excellent opportunity to ensure we have all your contact details correct.
School Money
Reminder to all parents/carers that we are a cashless school and take card payments via the School Money website or phone. Everyone should have received log in information via text by now, if you haven't then please contact Laila or Shilpa via the school office. We advise all parents to keep up with payments. You are able to pay in advance per week or per term, which ever method suits you best. If you have any questions regarding this then please feel free to contact Laila - school administrator.
School Packed Lunches
I would like to ask for your cooperation in sending in healthy packed lunches with your child. We are a healthy school and do not allow fizzy drinks, juices or cordials, crisps, chocolate, or sweets. Please give your child fruit as an alternative and water to drink. At break time every day we serve a healthy snack, a drink of juice and fruit. There is a section regarding school lunches on our website. Click here for details
Signing pupils in
For pupils being dropped off to school, we would be very grateful if parents/carers could please remember to sign their children in to the correct folder. If a child appears to be absent we will always contact home to check. This is for health and safety reasons because we are responsible for each child during the time they are in school. Therefore it is essential we know which children are present at school. If you bring your child in late or collect them early for any reason, please make sure that School Reception are aware that your child has arrived or left school.
Makaton
Makaton is a language programme that is used in conjunction with speech to aid the pupils’ understanding of language and help them communicate with each other more effectively. Makaton is used across the school in lessons and break times. We would love for you to learn some signs so that you can sign with your child. See the We Talk Makaton website for more.
