Happy News: An Adorable Act of Kindness

As many people can relate, finding a parking spot in a busy neighborhood can be a frustrating and sometimes impossible task – and if you find a good spot, you’ll often return to park there again, and it quickly becomes “yours”. In Wiesbaden, Germany this past week, a four-year-old boy who has parked his bike next to the same lamp post every day for about a year, pulled up to his usual spot to find an adorable surprise that made the parking spot officially “his”:

Honey Harvest Workshop Ends Hive Season on a Sweet Note

The second workshop by Alveole, our beekeeping partner, focused on honey harvest just in time for fall. Participants learned about the wellness properties of honey, the incredible world of bees and of course, were tasked with honey extraction.

Workshop participants learned to uncap honey combs, spin the manual honey extractor and bottle the liquid gold. The event concluded with a personal jar of honey gifted to each participant.

The Commerce Court bee hives will remain at the property for two more years. Join us for future workshops as we continue to host two hives on the roof of the North Tower.

Commerce Court Team Joins Colleagues at Black Creek Community Farm

On September 20, 2018 a group of QuadReal employees including Commerce Court staff volunteered at Black Creek Community Farm, located in the Jane and Steeles area of Toronto. The Farm and adjacent forest is situated on an eight-acre land owned by the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) – a natural and agriculture oasis in the middle of an urban environment.

By harvesting potatoes, carrots, hot peppers, apples and pears that day, the QuadReal team helped the Farm with its mission of delivering fresh fruits and vegetables are made available at low or no cost to the nearby community. The fresh air, delicious pizza lunch and fun with colleagues made this volunteer day a highly rewarding experience.

Wellness Tips of the Month

From the third in our quarterly wellness series: Healthy Meal Planning for Busy Professionals, here is a tip for a healthy October:
  • How can you curb unhealthy snacking? Include quality protein, fat, and fibre at each meal, such as raw nuts, energy bites, fresh fruit, veggie sticks or wholegrain crackers with hummus or nut butter.
