85,181 elephants dead in Tanzania.
That's over 60 percent of all their elephants killed by poachers in just a few years.
Because ivory is worth $500.00 per kilogram, - which means two big tusks could be worth over $60,000 - the poachers are still savagely murdering elephants without mercy.
Now that they've killed 85,181 elephants in Tanzania, they've turned their greedy eyes to Botswana.
But if we lose Botswana, the elephants will be forever lost.
Botswana hosts the world last big herd and if their new leader, His Excellency Mokgweetsi Masisiis, is unwilling to protect them, the elephants will face a slaughter like Tanzania.
Because of my working relationship with the Ambassador of Botswana, I am taking diplomatic measures to influence His Excellency to rearm the anti-poaching unit.
I am also suggesting that he reinstates orders to the Botswana Defense Force to shoot to kill all suspected poachers, as has been the policy for years.
