2018-2019 Season has begun!

Welcome to all our new and returning YMH members to the 2018-2019 season! We are looking forward to another fun and exciting year of hockey!

Yorkton Minor Hockey is excited to be the first hockey association in Saskatchewan to partner with Power Edge Pro (PEP) to to provide coaches and players with leading edge training throughout the season.
The PEP system is scale-able to players of all ages and stages of development and is often used by top professional hockey players.

Novice to Midget aged players from throughout the region (do not have to be a YMH player to enroll) are encouraged to participate in the PEP Camp being offered September 28 thru 30 for $200 per player.

TAKE NOTE: 2018-2019 Playing Rule Changes
* 3 head contact penalties now constitutes a game ejection penalty. A double minor only counts as 1 penalty for the purpose of this rule change.
* Slew footing: Now is either a double minor or a match penalty. Last year the minimum was a double minor and a game misconduct.

All new players who join YMH must have one guardian complete the Respect in Sport Parents Program online. This program empowers parents to ensure the safety of their children, encourage positive and effective communication, and to enhance a child's fun and camaraderie in the activity. Hello Atom and Novice Female Player Families!

Here is an opportunity for your female player to play on an Atom/Novice Female Traveling Team. This team would be registered with the Parkland Fire through the Melville Minor Hockey Organization. It is the first step in playing on an all-female team and moving on to the Peewee, Bantam and Midget Parkland Fire.

This is all-girls team that would be IN ADDITION TO your House League Team with your local minor hockey organization. It would only be a traveling team and we will practice and play in a couple of tournaments throughout the year.

It would be a great opportunity for your young ladies to start playing with other girls. It is a benefit to the girls, as they would have more time with the puck and build their confidence and skills.

YMH's Referee Director, Mark Jacobs, welcomes all returning Officials and invites interested persons to become Officials .. A great way to get more ice time! Learn more about the game of hockey! And make money!

All Officials must complete the certification each year. The process involves: 1) online payment; 2) complete online modules; 3) register and attend a clinic.

Classroom: 8:30am - 1pm ; On Ice: 1:30pm – 3:30pm

Monday, Nov. 19, 2018 at the Gallagher Center
Classroom: 5:30pm -10pm
All YMH Officials are scheduled using Arbiter Sports and new Officials will be given a login once their certification is complete.

Advertising space is available on YMH Rink Divider Boards which are used in IP and Novice ice sessions to divide the ice into two smaller playing surfaces. Advertising space is 40' wide by 34" tall and is on both sides of the dividers. Cost is $500 for 3 years. Interested advertisers must supply their own vinyl decal.

INTRAMURAL HOCKEY RETURNS TO SHHS AND YRHS

After a 25 year absence Intramural Hockey returns to Yorkton High Schools in November, 2019. Yorkton Minor Hockey has partnered with YRHS and SHHS to provide an exciting Hockey Program. This program will provide students/players another alternative to enjoy the great game we love, while reducing the financial and time commitment of regular league hockey. Watch for more details as they become available
