This Weekend at GHC
Junior Training continues this evening with 11 sessions taking place across two venues. A big thank you to all who are helping deliver these sessions week-in and week-out - fantastic support and enthusiasm from parents and a record number of nearly 2 dozen Duke of Edinburgh helpers (our U15+ Juniors who assistant coach).
For those at Broadwater this evening, please note the food offering is Jacket Potatoes - Mike the BBQ man will be back next Friday as usual. Bar, of course, open, too.
More pre-season matches for Senior and Junior teams on Saturday and Sunday - but also a few league matches including the Ladies 1s first South Div 2 match of the season at Woking!
That's a 1pm pushback at Woking on Saturday - not far if you can go, for sure they would appreciate the support.
Closer to home the Men's 1s play in their final prep match against Old Georgians at GHC at 2:30pm. Once again, the support would be much appreciated.
On Sunday, the Under 14 Girls are out in numbers with two league games and also hosting a 5-team tournament. The Under 14 Boys, Under 12 Girls and Under 18 Boys also have matches ahead of next weekend which will see more than 20 Junior events.

Umpiring Course with EH Guru 'Sold Out'
Well done to all 20 who have signed up to the umpiring course happening on Wednesday (postponed one week) with England Hockey’s workforce and training manager, Stephen Tabb.
Many thanks to Dan Fox for organising this - having enough people in the club who are competent and confident to umpire at different levels is so important to the game and our players' experience of their club hockey.
If you missed out this time or have been inspired by the others who are giving it a go, we can and will run more umpiring sessions.
Also a huge thank you to everyone who umpires - the games wouldn't be played without you!

Duke of Kent School are having an Open Day on 6 October including showcasing their Sports Programme.
England/GB player Sam Ward will be their and Duke of Kent have let us know are offering 45 minute training sessions with Sam on the day. No charge, but please book.

The Vineking is Coming to GHC - Saturday 6 October
The Vineking is coming to GHC for a fantastic evening of wine tasting on Saturday 6th of October 2018
Doors Open 7pm
Tasting Begins 7:30pm
Finish 10pm (bar closes later)
GHC Clubhouse, £20
Ticket includes - Glass of bubbles on arrival and tasting of 6 wines (3 whites and 3 reds). On each table will be an English Cheese board.
On the evening we will have a raffle and auction with some fantastic prizes.

First Aid Courses - Book Now
Each squad/team needs good coverage of First Aid, preferably two certificated people per team/squad, so that at any time there is someone on site with an up to date First Aid certificate and knowledge.
First Aid courses are available through the Club. These courses give a certificate that is valid for three years and includes Defibrillator training.
Please email Michelle to let her know if you are interested in becoming a First Aider – courses run in the evenings at the Club.
Once completetd, the course can be used as CPD in the work place. We ask for £35 towards the course while the Club pays two thirds of the fees. If money is going to stop you doing the course then please speak to Michelle.
The dates for the next 'Emergency First Aid at Work' course are:
- Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd October: 6pm - 9:30pm
You will need to be able to attend both evenings on either course 1 or 2 to complete the course and get the certificate.
The Courses will be taught by AJM First Aid Training

Mid-week Junior Skills Sessions Starting Tuesday 18 September
Junior players ages U11-13 are welcome and encouraged to come to our Open Mid-week Skills Sessions.
Men's 1st team player coaches will focus on improving skills in these 60 minute sessions on a Tuesday from 6-7pm.
£5 to pay and play.
These sessions can help your junior player make huge improvements to their skills and further their enjoyment of the game!
