Volunteer Naturalist

If you enjoy nature and sharing your knowledge with others, consider volunteering as a naturalist with Boulder County Parks & Open Space. The training prepares you to lead nature hikes, present slide programs, and provide hands-on natural history experiences to residents of all ages. Topics range from wildlife and plants to local ecology and geology. You’ll also learn about interpretive techniques and resources.

Application deadline is November 9, 2018, or until the class is filled. For more information, contact Larry Colbenson at lcolbenson@bouldercounty.org or 303-678-6214.

Volunteer Ranger Corps

Volunteer Ranger Corps members hike, bike, or ride a horse at Boulder County’s most scenic open spaces while providing park visitors with information about cultural and natural history, recreational opportunities, facilities, and regulations. With additional training and approval, volunteers can hike the trails with their dog to help share information with other dog owners on the trail.

Volunteers will also be trained to lead and assist staff with work projects, visitor studies, and community outreach and education.

For more information, contact Michelle Marotti at mmarotti@bouldercounty.org or 303-678-6219.

Community Forestry Sortyard Host

Volunteer Community Forestry Sort Yard Hosts are needed at the Meeker Park (near Allenspark) and Nederland Sort Yards to make sure that they continue to be a local hub of community-based forestry information.

Volunteer Sort Yard Hosts greet people as they enter the yard, collect data on delivered material, and provide information to sort yard users about forest ecology, bark beetles, and wildfire mitigation.

Volunteers will not be responsible for helping unload woody biomass.

Applications are accepted continuously throughout the season. For more information, contact Shane Milne at smilne@bouldercounty.org or 303-678-6089.
