Over the course of this last month, Dan has been pioneering a new campus chapter at St. Edwards university. We have been so excited about this because the school is small (less than 5,000 students) and diverse (with students from 58 countries), and so there is a great opportunity to make a significant impact. However, it has been much trickier than expected! St. Edwards is a private university, and so non-students are not allowed on campus and there isn't a free-speech zone like on other campuses. Dan's challenge has therefore been to meet students off campus, find some who are interested enough to lead the charge in becoming an official student organization, and then empower them to take ownership of the new chapter.
For several weeks, Dan tried to randomly meet students at coffee shops and public sporting events. But after zero progress and a lot of hard work, we decided this week that he should, in faith, break the rules and begin sharing the gospel right on campus.
God is so faithful! The first day, Dan interrupted a student on the baseball team to share the gospel, only to find out that he has been leading a Bible study of twelve guys. The student told Dan that he was so encouraged because he's never done anything like this and feels overwhelmed, and he invited Dan to meet his friends. In addition, an agnostic student that Dan knew from Texas State University randomly called and said that his brother just started on the basketball team at St. Edwards. Even though the brother is also agnostic, he was interested in meeting Dan. Dan asked him to invite his friends to Bible study, and three guys showed up (none of them knowing the Lord, but all interested in God!) Please join us in praying that God would powerfully work through these two open doors.
