Invitation to Worship

Some of the scenes in the Bible would not be fit for TV. Literally, Game of Thrones has nothing on the Hebrew Bible when it comes to tales of violence (except dragons). The central event of the New Testament includes the most violent and cruel form of execution the world had to offer.

As we read the text, what are we supposed to make of it? More than that, what are we supposed to think about the God we know and trust when it comes to violence? Does God promote violence, or abhor it? What does the Bible really say when it comes to violence? There are no easy answers to these questions, but we'll be exploring them and seeking God's heart as we gather for worship this Sunday at 5 p.m. I hope to see you soon!

Grace and Peace,
Rev. Jasper Peters

“Women of Valor” Book Club

Thursday, September 27, 6:30 p.m.

“One of my goals after completing my year of biblical womanhood was to ‘take back’ Proverbs 31 as a blessing, not a to-do list, by identifying and celebrating women of valor: women who are changing the world through daily acts of faithfulness, both in [our lives] and around the world.” –Rachel Held Evans

Women of Valor Book Club is a monthly event where we meet to discuss relevant topics over wine, snacks, and each other’s company. Join us and meet the sisterhood of Belong, and come away with new friends and a great conversation. This month, we’ll be reading The Wrong Heaven by Amy Bonnaffons. Contact us for location.

Wednesday Night at Belong

Wednesdays, 6–9 p.m.

Putting a fresh take on the traditional Wednesday night church meeting, Wednesday Night at Belong is a weekly gathering inspired by the word “liturgy,” which literally means “the work of the people.” If you’re looking for deeper connection, spiritual refreshment, and opportunities for service through action, you’ll be right at home. During the night, we make lunches for our friends without homes, come together and hear from each other, pray together, sing together, and work on service projects in and around the church. The band rehearses for the following Sunday and anyone who is interested in worship arts is encouraged to meet, play, sing, create, and brainstorm more creative ways of serving our church body through the arts.

Snacks and beverages will be provided (potluck is invited!), and while we will not have formal childcare, your kids are more than welcome to join in.
