Late September 2018
countrywool news
shop hours: Monday 5-8 Tuesdays, Thursdays, Sundays: 10-3 September means back to school, and, for me, back to knitting. I spend the summer sewing and weaving (and gardening and making home repairs!), but once fall arrives, it's all about stacking wood, and planning for a nightly knit-a-thon. First up is pondering some projects for gift giving in December, and then what accessories and sweater projects feel good for this winter. While we ponder what to knit, and what a delicious prospect THAT is, do you need more yarn? Countrywool will no longer be stocking PEACE FLEECE, both worsted and sport weight, and will start a clearance sale of that and a few more yarns this month so stop by and check the shelves. The deal is 35% off if you take just a few skeins, but 40% off if you clean out a color. If you'd like to order online, that's fine, but there is no free shipping. Any credit card/paypal payments used will reduce the discount by 5%. Old fashioned checks/cash will work great and not reduce your discount. This past month I have worked hard on a new pattern for a child's cardigan, and am pleased to announce the self imposed deadline has been met: Autumn's Spring Garden Cardigan pattern is done. Soft as butter knit with MERINO EXTRA FINE and SIMPLICITY, these DK weight wools make a lighter weight sweater, good for indoors. Interested? You can find it here. Registrations for our FALL KNITTING weekend have been brisk, but we still have room for 8 more knitters. The best of Elizabeth Zimmermann' s KNITTING WORKSHOP Retreat Winter Clove Inn, Round Top, NY November 16, 17 & 18, 2018 More information about this year's topics and registration links here We have enjoyed this summer's new MONDAY KNIT NITE, which has been faithfully attended by just enough knitters to make knitting AND conversation interesting. We're going to keep it going into fall and see how that works. The rules of the game are: 1. The group chooses and then knits the same project (patterns are always FREE) 2. All yarns are purchased at Countrywool You need not sign up for the NEXT project if you don't finish with the others, and may continue to attend and keep working on it until you are done. September and October projects chosen by the group are FAIR ISLE inspired, and in late October it looks like we will be starting a seamless yoke sweater design. This is a GREAT place to learn the basics. Stuck on a project? This Sundays FULL MOON FINISH class may be JUST what you need!
