Sparkling event for Chamber patrons ...

Patron members and guests of Shropshire Chamber of Commerce visited Hencote Estate vineyard on the outskirts of Shrewsbury where they were treated to canapés, a tour of the vines and sample tasting of some of the very first wines produced.

Hencote Estate is a multi-million pound investment in the county by Andy Stevens and his family and features 16 acres of planted vines on elevated slopes overlooking the town, scheduled to be in full production by the end of the year.

Family Wellbeing Festival Comes to Shrewsbury This Weekend

This coming Sunday (16th September) see’s the first ever Family Festival of Wellbeing taking place in Shrewsbury.

The event which is organised by Find Your Bloom will be held at Shrewsbury Town Football Ground from 10am til 4pm, and features something for all the family with wellbeing at the heart of it.

Jo Meakin, Event Manager for Find Your Bloom says “We wanted to offer something which promoted family wellbeing in a way which was fun for families to be involved in, whilst offering them a whole host of resources to use for their families going forward”

100 Mile Celebrations for intrepid Charity Cyclists

An intrepid group of twelve Shrewsbury businessmen who have successfully completed a gruelling 100-mile charity cycle ride, are so far just shy of raising their £5,000 target for the Royal British Legion, to mark the final year of the First World War centenary.

The Benefits of CBD Oil

CBD oil has been a very hot topic over the last couple years due to new findings of it’s healing and relieving benefits. CBD or cannabidiol that has been catching everyone’s attention of late is a compound from the hemp plant that can be extracted into oils and consumed in a variety of different ways. The oil is extracted from the hemp plant which is a type of marijuana and has a high content of the CBD chemical compound. Marijuana contains THC which is the compound responsible getting people on a ‘high’ or intoxicated; CBD lacks the psychoactive power and does not get you high.

A legal expert from Shropshire who specialises in elderly care work has gained important professional recognition.

Nicola Hawes, head of elderly client and care funding at Shrewsbury-based Wace Morgan Solicitors, has achieved full accredited status at Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE).

SFE is a national organisation of highly qualified and regulated advisers who have additional skills to enable them to work with older and vulnerable clients.

British Heart Striking a Beat while the Iron’s Hot

This weekend saw two patriotic champions raising much needed funds for the heart research being conducted at the Oswestry Hospital. A team of British Heart Foundation fundraisers took over the Ironworks’ entrance to greet visitors and promote their need for help. The Ironworks concierge team took a step backwards to allow the British Heart volunteers to take all membership and charitable donations received on the day.

Galliers set to brew up for charity

Site managers at housing developments in Shropshire are preparing to don their aprons and serve up coffee and cakes as part of a charity event.

The managers of two Galliers Homes sites are taking part in The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning this month.

The initiative is the largest fund raising campaign organised by Macmillan Cancer Support, with the charity asking people all over the UK to host their own events.

In 2017 over £27 million was raised and it is hoped this year will be another success.

Pharmacist urges Shropshire people to have a free blood pressure check and not just rely on an internet quiz

A pharmacy in Shrewsbury is urging residents in the town to have a free blood pressure check and not just rely on an internet quiz.

September is a month of action at Lunts Pharmacy in Roushill and last year they carried out around 60 blood pressure checks - but staff want more people to come in for one this year following the rise of an NHS website check.

The heart age check was in the news last week as it has so far determined that four out of five Britons have a heart age greater than their actual age.
