Fall 2018
Hello Aligned Learning community!
We are off to a great start this Fall with exciting learning options for all. We are proud to announce our new brand and website focusing on the grand purpose of learning: to become our best selves.

Please check us out at https://www.alignedlearning.co

Aligned Learning’s theme this Fall is “Be CURIOUS!” The most successful and interesting people I know are experts at being curious. Those who struggle --or feel stuck—have often lost touch with their sense of exploration. In late October, we will co-host an event to learn more about the benefits of curiosity and about the inquisitive habits of those who give curiosity a leading role in their lives. Stay tuned!

Please contact us if you’d like to explore ways Aligned Learning can help you, your team, your child, or your community forge a life of inquiry, learning and growing.

New Team Members
Meg Adelman, RN, BSN, MPH
Wellness and Nutrition Consultant

Meg co-founded Navitas Organics with her husband Zach in 2003.  The company’s mission is to honor a healthy lifestyle through the innovation of nutrient dense superfoods and snacks.  Her long-time passion for preventative medicine led her to a career in Nursing in 2008 where she worked to empower patients to embrace self-care and overcome common health problems.  Although working in the surgical field for six years provided valuable training, it reaffirmed her commitment to prioritizing prevention strategies to mitigate the pitfalls of chronic disease.  In 2017, she completed her Master’s in Public Health at the University of San Francisco.  Meg focuses on population health education, corporate wellness programs and supporting food system reform, which she believes is responsible for many of the diseases that are crippling our healthcare system today.  Meg is currently working to complete her CCMS Certification.  Obtaining the Certified Culinary Medicine Specialist (CCMS) certification provides clinicians with the comprehensive knowledge and unique perspective to deliver the most informed, practical, and effective nutritional counseling for their patients.
Katie Siembieda, BS
Executive Function Coach, Math & Science Specialist

Katie Siembieda, a Fairfax native, has been working as an academicmentor for four years.

With a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from UCSC, Katie particularly enjoys helping students improve their conceptual understanding of science topics.  Her goal is to help learners appreciate that a basic understanding of our world's physical and biological processes is useful beyond the context of a science class. Katie will collaborate with Aligned Learning and build our customized science-focused learning journeys for interested clients.
Randonae Rode, BA
Executive Function Coach, Writing, ACT/SAT and SSAT/ISEE Test Prep Specialist

Though originally from Portland, Oregon, "Rando" has spent more than half his life in the Bay Area.

His mother is an instructor at Marin Primary, and his family has a long history of being teachers. It is not much of a surprise that he fell in love with not just all things academic, but also with showing others that anything can be interesting if they know enough about it!

He has tutored every academic subject for all age levels (adults included) prior to joining Aligned Learning, and is a whiz at test prep and creating test content for SAT, ACT and SSAT.  In many ways, tests like SAT are beautifully crafted puzzles.  Rando is working with Aligned Learning as an Executive Function Coach and Test Prep Specialist, since he has seen it all when it comes to developing a range of strategies that allow students to succeed both in life and in school.

We still have a few spots left to work with our dynamic coaches, so thank you for getting the word out!  Contact: pavati@alignedlearning.co
Saturday Study Hall Start 9/15
We will begin our study hall this coming weekend to insure our students are on track with their first term work load.  Study hall runs 12:30am-2:30pm on Saturdays.  This is a great opportunity for students to bang out all their weekend work in one sitting.  RSVP's to pavati@alignedlearning.co needed by Friday morning before study hall if your students would like to attend.   All students welcome, Aligned Learning clients and beyond!
