FINAL ARTISTS ANNOUNCEMENT

Could this year's stellar line-up get any better?? It sure can and it just did ... check out these amazing acts in our final artists announcement.

BONNIE LOVE (QLD)

Performing internationally for the last decade with Gypsy cabaret band Rapskallion, Sara Yael (front woman) has moved to greener pastures with her new project Bonnie Love. Harnessing old time jazz, a whole lotta soul, whisky drenched blues, and a broken heart, Bonnie Love delivers world-class entertainment of a high-class calibre. 'She has the voice of a sixties soul singer with the vocal inflections of Tom Waits and the delivery of Bob Dylan when he first picked up an electric guitar'.

Early 2017 saw the release of her debut EP Songs for the Living produced by Gabriella Cohen to much cult acclaim, which led to invitations to perform at Splendour in The Grass, Woodford Folk Festival, Maleny Music Festival, Island Vibes and Wallaby Creek Festival.

SHAI SHRIKI (BYRON BAY)

Shai Shriki (Haifa-Israel) was raised in a Moroccan Jewish musical family. His grandfather was one of Morocco’s greatest singers and oud players of his time. Now a singer, oud and guitar player himself Shai has taken on the family’s musical legacy.

A dynamic performer who takes you through deep emotions and great joy! A delightful music journey of original Hebrew songs and instrumentals with the sounds from the Middle East, Israeli music and Spanish guitar.
Shai has performed with many influential artists like David Broza, members of Sheva, Mark Eliyahu, Yohai Cohen, Hamsa, Temple of Song, Noam Blat and many more…

RADUGA TRIO

“Raduga”– from Russian meaning rainbow or joyous arch – is an eclectic, energetic and exciting take on a raw gypsy style. Original compositions and arrangements of melodies and songs from around the world on the clarinet, piano accordion, ukulele, guitar and various hand percussion, flavoured with tap dance and singing in Slavic and Roma.

"I felt like I was in an eastern European dance hall when Raduga played on my morning radio show in Newcastle. Their sound is hypnotic, their mood mesmerising and their spirit, pure fun”. (Jill Emberson ABC radio Newcastle)

TIPTOE GIANTS

Tiptoe Giants is a fresh indie-kindie band creating original music about the big and small things in life, for families to enjoy together. Their show, "Little Steps Big Adventures", is an epic rainbow adventure, from calypso melodies and "jazz-hand" swingers, to bluegrass toe-tappers and more! Kids and adults share the dance floor as Tiptoe Giants inspire the little giant in all of us!

Tiptoe Giants’ fun, contemporary and wholesome music EMPOWERS children to THINK, FEEL, AND GROW as individuals and within communities. Focusing on rich, sincere content that is age appropriate, the Tiptoes extend children linguistically, rhythmically, cognitively, physically, socially and emotionally - all while setting their audiences free to have a blast!

Emanuel Lieberfreund studied classical and jazz flute at the Sydney Conservatorium, and is a seasoned flautist, saxophonist and percussionist in jazz, world music, devotional music, and music for dance therapy, yoga and meditation.

KEPPIE COUTTS
The Mysteries of Mad River: A Swamp Folk Operetta

Award-winning songwriter Keppie Coutts presents ‘The Mysteries of Mad River: A Swamp-Folk Operetta’, an eccentric, Freudian, and sparkling piece of musical theatre, that is one-part cabaret, one-part murder mystery.

Strung around the character of a lovable (but deranged) primary school teacher, singing her way through a town cursed with disappearing children, Coutts breaks the barriers of conventional songwriter performance, by stepping fully into the dark and riotous world of the characters she has created. The swampy, honky-tonk, blues-folk narratives call on a musical ancestry that includes Nick Cave, Tom Waits, and Leonard Cohen.

Having won the praise of peers and fans in the US (including having a song produced by John Mayer), Coutts has joined forces with Anna Jahjah of Theatre Excentrique to bring the stories and characters to life (and death), in this dark comedy which debuted at the 2017 Sydney Fringe Festival.

CHELSEA BERMAN

Making her start on the music scene 5 years ago fresh Central Coast talent, Chelsea Berman, has already racked up accolades including; Winner Homegrown Songwriting Competition (2015), Winner Central Coast Country Music Festival Busking Competition (2013) and Finalist in the Australian Songwriters Association Songwriting Competition (2014, 2015 & 2016).

In early 2018 she released her first solo EP, Better Than Ever. Debuting at number four on the Itunes country album charts, her EP has seen a lot of media attention. Chelsea has started out strong in the country music industry and plans to stay there!

JONNO ZILBER

Jonno Zilber is a blues singer/guitarist from Brisbane. With a solo style broadly influenced by classic and modern blues, he has built a reputation as one of Australia's premier performers for swing dancing exchanges and blues/folk music festivals around the country.

Originally inspired by blues masters Muddy Waters and B.B.King and heavily influenced by modern blues artists including Tom Waits and Keb Mo,  Zilber has become a well sought after act in the Australian swing and blues dancing scene. His latest album, "Winter Blues: Live", was inspired by, and recorded for, the late-night blues after parties held at swing dancing events all over the world.

GRAEME PILLEMER

Returning to Sydney after years based in NYC, Graeme Pillemer, formerly of Sherlock’s Daughter and Earl Gray, is excited to bring to Sydney audiences a taste of his upcoming album and a fresh new palate of sounds.

Before his relocation to NYC, Graeme Pillemer was a recognisable presence on the Australian music scene, as the solo performer Earl Gray, releasing the well-received album ‘Not for Sale’ and performing with local and international acts such as Gomez, the Whitlams, Josh Pyke and Lior.

Moving to NYC as co-founder of indie-electronica outfit Sherlock’s Daughter, Graeme was fortunate enough to release a debut album produced by John Agnello (Kurt Vile, Dinosaur Jr) and Jono Ma (Jagwar Ma) and tour extensively through the US supporting an array of local and international artists such as School of Seven Bells, Tame Impala and Temper Trap.

JONAH PRIMO

Jonah studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, focusing on contemporary composition and jazz. Throughout his degree he was a finalist in song-writing and poetry competitions such as Sydney Vision and Sydney Verge, directed the Sydney Uni Commerce revue, and performed in contemporary, jazz, folk, world and rock bands in both Sydney and at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

An obsessive curiosity to explore diverse genres has given Jonah a unique sound within the Indie scene, splashing Jazz, Folk and Fusion harmonies on a bed of Blues Rock. As a multi-instrumentalist, he blends live and pre-recorded sounds to tell terrifying and surreal stories, but undeniably stories you can dance to.
