Crypto NYC Hosts Havven (medium.com)
"Havven is building a decentralized payment system and stablecoin. Recent market volatility combined with longstanding concerns about Tether have made stablecoins a prominent field of discussion in the crypto community. Havven, which completed a $30 million ICO in February 2018, is based in Sydney, Australia. It was founded by Warwick, an entrepreneur with a longstanding interest in cryptocurrency."
Larry Sharpe Discusses NY Regulatory Reform (medium.com)
"On September 13th, New Yorkers headed to the polls to place their vote in this year’s primary election. In many ways, the primary will prove to be more important than the general election on November 6th, given the state’s heavy democratic tilt. Despite the uphill nature of challenging the Democratic Party in New York, Larry Sharpe, the Libertarian candidate for Governor of New York, is set on challenging the status quo and examining the myriad issues facing New York with a fresh perspective."
Introducing Common Interest (medium.com)
"In 1996, internet pioneer John Perry Barlow penned a manifesto in which he extolled the virtues of the newly created cyber world, envisioning a system that transcended identity, national sovereignty, and the state; a system that connected the world and empowered us to create a better future. Now, twenty years on, it is clear the internet has fallen short of that promise. While the internet has created a tremendous amount of value, connecting the world and enabling an age of infinite leverage, it has not contributed to significantly decrease global economic inequality. Rather, co-option of new technologies toward the ends of driving ever increasing share prices at the expense of stakeholders has concentrated returns for the few without a commensurate return in digital dividends — growth, jobs and services — to the many. The incentives are broken and we need to fix them."
Coinbase New York City Hiring in Wall Street Push (coindesk.com)
"The crypto industry unicorn Coinbase has aggressive growth plans for its newly opened New York office, which caters to institutional clients. The digital asset exchange plans to expand the operation to 150 employees next year, from 20 currently. According to the company, the slump in cryptocurrency prices this year has not quelled institutional demand for this asset class."
Introducing Cloudflare's IPFS Gateway (blog.cloudflare.com)
"Today we’re excited to introduce Cloudflare’s IPFS Gateway, an easy way to access content from the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) that doesn’t require installing and running any special software on your computer. We hope that our gateway, hosted at cloudflare-ipfs.com, will serve as the platform for many new highly-reliable and security-enhanced web applications. The IPFS Gateway is the first product to be released as part of our Distributed Web Gateway project, which will eventually encompass all of our efforts to support new distributed web technologies."
