Climber’s Collective
Imagine if all of Kentucky’s arborists were placed
in a room. This group’s knowledge would be
astounding. The reality of our daily jobs is that
we do not always have this large team to solve
our rigging and climbing questions, but from
conversations with other arborists, it is apparent
that the desire to learn from and contribute to
this large group is present in our community.
Currently the concept of a monthly gathering of
interested climbers meeting to learn, practice and
teach skills to other climbers is just a working idea.
The goal would be to increase our knowledge and
become safer, more efficient arborists and to socialize
with others in the community. Please stay tuned and
feel free to contact me with any thoughts or ideas.

Dave biked the Buckeye State from Columbus to the Cleveland loop raising an outstanding amount of
$3955 for TREE Fund!
Earlier this year, Dave assembled a bourbon package
that went for $1100 at the TREE Fund Auction, along with pledging and securing a $1500 donation from KAA.
Wow, that’s a total of $6,555 and Dave is still collecting his pledge promises!
Please take a moment to read over the following
message John sent out to his supporters after
completing his ride:
Greetings,
I wanted to give everyone an update and a challenge. I completed this year’s Tour des Trees on Saturday
August 4
th biking over 585 miles in Ohio. This year
was intense! We did back-to-back-to-back centuries
on the bike with the middle day ride over 116 miles! Thanks again for everyone who supported me
financially this year, you guys are awesome!!!
I spent the next week at the International Society of Arboriculture’s Annual Conference and again I’m
amazed at all the research supported by the TREE Fund that comes back home with me to Lexington to share
with the community to help make our urban forest
more resilient.
Now for the challenge, next year the tour will be in Kentucky and Tennessee. I encourage all the cyclist to
join me for next year’s tour which will be in our home
state! I was impressed with all the Ohio riders who
turned out and would love to have more Kentucky
people on next year’s ride which will be held September 15
th- 21
st. Let me know if you’re interested and
I’ll help get you signed up.
Cheers,
John Saylor
