While the growth in deliveries of the Tesla Model 3 is grabbing all the headlines, there are 41 other EV‘s available in the US – a few of which are showing some less obvious, yet still interesting sales trends.
In particular, the BMW 530e, Honda Clarity PHEV, Chevrolet Volt and Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid (PHEV) all are selling well, while the Ford Fusion Energi and BMW i3 are headed toward EV irrelevance.

ChargePoint to grow global EV charging network to 2.5 million - (Reuters, September 13, 2018) - ChargePoint, the leading charging network provider, this past week announced its intent to add 2.5 million charging stations in the US and Europe by 2025. I’ve reached out to ChargePoint’s PR team as while this sounds very impressive, I want to know the details of how they plan to add hundreds (about 940) of charging stations per day between now and 2025? Since ChargePoint doesn't install charging stations, but merely sells them and provides the network infrastructure, this commitment is curious without the details of the types of locations.
Solid Power Announces $20 Million In Series A Funding - (Press release, September 12, 2018) - Solid Power, one of the most promising solid-state battery start-ups announced additional investments this week from Hyundai and Samsung and others. Back in June of 2017 I interviewed the CEO of Solid Power and then wrote an article in December when they announced a partnership with BMW. While there are several companies with promising solid-state battery technology, I have my fingers crossed that Solid Power will be one of the winners.
