Putting ourselves in our patient's shoes creates great empathy. This article highlights not only the cultural needs of the patients; but, the need for cultural humility and awareness, leading to culturally competent care at every level and point of engagement. Cultural Competence: Glimpsing the World Through Our Patients’ Eyes as We Guide Their Care


            


       
  • Bear –  A gay or bisexual man who has facial/ body hair and a cuddly body. Source
  • Demi-Sexual – A person who does not experience sexual attraction unless that have a strong emotional connection (such as a romantic relationship or deep friendship). Demi-sexuality is an innate orientation. Source
  • Ethnocentric – People who believe that the values of their ethnic group is better than that of other groups. Source
