First Club Race 23rd September

Hard to believe we are about to start another season of fun, light banter , tim tam consumption and triathlons.

A big welcome to our new sponsors, Physability, Palate and Ply espresso bar and café, Coffs Coast Nutrition and Skin Doctors. Welcome aboard.

Weather forecast is looking really good and some slick times for the opening race is sure to set the bar high. The water temperature will allow for the use of a swim suit if you wish.

Club Race 1st Club Proudly Sponsored by
This weekend’s race is sponsored by Tim and Leesa from the Chicken Butchery.
Located in the centre of town, they have over 25 chicken dishes with lots of flavours and are open 7 days a week.

Once again, they are supplying us with some delicious goodies for our season opener BBQ, so make sure you hang back and tuck in

There will be some vouchers from the Chicken Butchery that we will be giving away. We will also be giving away a few goodies from our Rebel prizes bin

Important Club Race Info !
TRANSITION AREA
Some of you will have noticed changes recently at the Yacht club which has caused us to revise the transition area.
We have produced a map of the area with the changes.
Please get familiar with these changes as what have devised is totally different to what you have been used to.
The maps are also located on our website, and we will explain the flow of transition at the briefing.
This will be a work in progress, so we do appreciate your patience while we bed down the best and safest method.

SWIM LEG
No changes here. Please, if you are new, get familiar with the swim course. Swim caps are compulsory for everyone. Maps are on the website

BIKE LEG.
Apart from the transition area, the bike leg stays as is. Again, safety is paramount, so please be diligent out on the roads. In particular, Marine parade is extra busy due the markets…. SLOW DOWN
Both heading out and upon your return.

RUN LEG CHANGES
You may have noticed that there are restoration works being carried out on the Jetty. As such, we will not be able to use the Jetty for the first 3 races at least. Essentially, we add an extra 300mts to the existing turn point
A new turn around point for both distances has been established. Again, we will provide a map of this (currently being done) and this will also be up on the website, and of course, it will be in the briefing.
To any new members that are racing, a big welcome to you. Please introduce yourself on the morning. Make sure you arrive nice and early to get yourself set up and familiar with the course maps.
We have a number of exiting club members that are more than willing to ‘buddy’ with you in your first few races, so please ask.

Briefing will take place at 6-15 am with the start to be 6-30

Are you bike ready.
Don’t run the risk of racing this weekend with a bike that’s in need of a service. It might be new tyres that is required, or its time for a general service.
We are spoilt for choice on where to go with 3 great bike shops all supporting our club.
Please support them in return by getting your bike in tip top condition for this weekend.

Look forward to seeing everyone on Sunday, Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need to.

From Your President
Well folks here it is.. Blink, and the Off Season is over!!

The Triathlon Season is upon us now. I can hardly believe that the first club race is this coming Sunday! For those of you who haven't seen it yet, we have a new Transition Area. The Committee has worked overtime to come up with the fair free flowing Transition inside the fenced area.(Race Director will explain) Please bear with us as we trial this new area, and feel free to suggest any improvements.

Also the Run Course is temporarily changed, as the works on the Jetty progress at an astonglishly slow rate!(more on that later too).

For anyone who is planning on racing this Sunday and has not yet renewed their membership, could you please do so before 5pm on Friday. Otherwise, you won't have been entered into the
Timing Software which makes it more complicated for the Handicapper on Race Day!

Also a reminder to those who are on Duty this weekend - we need you there at 5.30am. We have a lot to organise.

Thankyou to all the people who attended the Information Session on Saturday - Try a Tri. There are plenty of you coming down to check out the Race on Sunday. All new people are made to feel welcome so don't be shy, feel free to come and introduce yourselves. We will be holding an After Race Breakfast BBQ so grab yourself a Bacon & Egg Roll and we will answer any questions or queries you may have.

It should be a great with the weather on Sunday forecast to be clear with a cool start and light southerly winds. The water is a cool 19 degrees so if you have a wetsuit I suggest you pack it in..

Whether you've been in hibernation all Winter and intend on rolling around the Course or you've been training up a storm and are out to smash it - Enjoy yourselves and stay safe.

See you out there!
Paul Herring - Club President
