Hard-hearted Villagers
Told by Balaram Khora
After finishing the second module of my storytelling training, I went back to my own village.
There's a village nearby where the villagers' hearts are very hard; they had always rejected the Gospel.
So this time I went there with two of my storytelling disciples and told them a story. I told about Joshua (Joshua 1-4), a story I had learned in training. The villagers, who had never listened to me before, listened very carefully to my story.
A 30-yr-old woman there named Gharmoti was in very serious condition with advanced TB. She was bedridden and unable to get up. After hearing the story, her husband came and begged me, "Please come and pray for my wife. If she gets healed, then I will believe in Jesus Christ. We both will believe and we will worship Jesus only."
He said, "A lot of people are saying, 'Christians are low caste people.' But even if people say this about us, still I will become a believer if my wife gets healed."
So after finishing the story, we went to his house and prayed for his wife.
A few days later we went back to that village again. The woman's condition had improved so much that now she was able to get up and help take care of their two children.
Please pray with us that God will heal her completely and that through this family God will do his ministry in that village, so many people will come and believe in Jesus Christ, and receive Him and be healed.

Teresa and I are on our way to South Asia to give a 4-day final exam to 30 new storytellers. Over the last 16 months, they've learned to tell 110 stories in chronological order, beginning with Genesis 1 and ending with Acts 1, thus committing the equivalent of more than 100 chapters of the Bible to memory. Many have become amazing storytellers.
Each one has also trained a storytelling disciple who they are bringing to the exam to be tested. If what we have observed in previous exams holds true, some of these apprentices will earn a higher score on the exam than the storytellers who taught them!
We'll finish with a graduation celebration before they return to their fields. Most have already planted at least one new congregation since they began the storytelling course.
Please pray for us as we travel, and for the storytellers.

Plague Stopped
The people in Telavi village are all Hindus and they do not like Christians. But last Friday, I went there and told them a story from the Bible.
A disease was spreading through the village. People who got sick had blood in their urine and in their stool. For the previous three days, some were not able to stand or even sit up because of their illness.
So I told them the story about the Ten Plagues (Exodus chapter 7-12).
After they listened to my story, I left my cell phone with them, saying, "You keep it and call the doctor if you need to. I'm going to pray."
Since it was Friday, our regular day for fasting and prayer, we included them in our prayers. That night in the service we prayed for them again.
When I went back to the village, I asked, "Did you call the doctor?"
They replied that they had not, and returned my phone.
By now, the disease had been stopped and everyone was resting comfortably. God completely healed them. As a result, a family there are now believers. Their names are Lorita and Himon Mandangi. Please pray for them.

WHAT IF I TOLD YOU that you could go to an unreached village and share the Good News with people who never heard?

YOU CANFor just $30 a month, the storyteller you send will be able to go where the Gospel has never been preached. They will give literacy classes and attempt to plant a new church. As villagers hear the powerful stories from the Bible, and are introduced to the love of God, the Holy Spirit can begin to change their hearts.
