Homestead Harvest News
October 3, 2018
Rains came at the end of last week and jump started the new grass in the field. Luckily the rain was gone by Saturday and we had a great turnout for the Hurricane Florence fundraiser at the church. Sales totaled over $25,000.00! Kelly and our 2 NC State sons on Fall break leave tomorrow for another few days of chainsawing and debris removal.
Lots of coming and going on the farm this week. Our regular intern came on Friday, then a couple of middle school students worked on Sunday to get community service hours, and finally the Ag. Science class from Heritage High School came for a tour on Tuesday. The baby pigs came on Monday and baby ducks come on Thursday!
This week at the markets we will have:
- Frozen whole and half chicken, FRESH Saturday only
- Pork sausage (hot, kielbasa, zesty Italian, and breakfast links)
- Beef (roasts, Hotdogs, ribs, and ground beef)
- Steaks! Ribeye, T-Bone, Chuck Eye, Sirloin Tip, Flank, Flat Iron
