SPLISS well-represented at European Association for Sport Management (EASM)

From September 3rd to 8th 2018, SPLISS researchers attended the 26th EASM conference in Malmö, Sweden. For SPLISS, EASM 2018 kicked-off by a two-day PhD seminar for our young researchers in order to present and discuss ongoing work with colleagues and experts in the field of study. The PhD seminar was an excellent opportunity to receive and provide valuable feedback and food for thought for ongoing research.

At Thursday 5th, the first conference day, SPLISS researchers Jens de Rycke, Shaundre Jacobs and Sebastiaan de Cocq successfully presented their work in parallel sessions. Friday 6th, Jacqueline Patatas and hosted a valuable workshop on disability sports in cooperation with Canadian researchers Laura Misener, David Legg and VUB Sport & Society representative Inge Derom

At the last day of EASM 2018, Veerle De Bosscher was invited to deliver a keynote presentation about mixed method research. Interested in the submitted conference abstracts? A book of abstracts of EASM is available here.

We thank EASM 2018 and the city of Malmö for being excellent hosts!

Elite sport and sport for all: an epistemological paradox
This paper investigates why the evidence base of the hypothesised relationship between elite sports and mass sport participation sport is of ambivalent nature. A critical synthesis displays that this relationship is subject to causal complexity and this complexity therefore should be taken into account in future research agendas.
