From festivals to foliage, fall is a wonderful time of year in Georgia. Getting outside is a great way to unplug and get away from the stress of work and the never-ending news cycle.
If you’re curious about when the leaves are going to change, keep an eye on this site which gives regular updates from the Blue Ridge Mountains. And just in case someone asks you, here is an explanation of why leaves change color and why they’re different colors.
If you’re looking for fall festivals, Atlanta Traveler has a list of 55 of them, from Gold Rush Days in Dahlonega to the Chastain Park Arts Festival.
For those looking for pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and orchards, we have you covered too.
This fall take some time to enjoy the cooler weather, get some fresh air, and focus on being well.

Root, Root, Root for the Home Team
Fall is a busy time of year for Georgia Tech athletics and the teams would love to have your support. Did you know that almost a third of the athletes on the volleyball team are engineering majors? The numbers are almost as good for the football team, 25% of whom are declared engineering majors according to their Ramblinwreck.com bios.

Five Minutes Matter
The weather should be cooling down any time now, which means it will be perfect for taking a coffee break outside. This fall reach out to a colleague you don’t know well and see if they’d like to get coffee and chat. Maybe you can find ways to support each other, or learn from one another. If you happen to be handy to MRDC, don’t forget about TopTime Coffee – the coffee stand downstairs by the Invention Studio run by Georgia Tech and CREATE-X graduates.

Welcome Back Cristo Rey Students!
Two great institutions coming together again for one great partnership. Fifteen interns from Cristo Rey High School will work at Georgia Tech this year. Eight are with GTAA and seven are with us in the College of Engineering.
“Cristo Rey Draft Day,” which was held on Aug 17, 2018, is an annual event that matches student interns with organizations for a one-year internship experience. GT LEAP Instructors Mike Connor (BSIE '87 & MSIE '93) and Chuck Easley (BSIM '86) helped welcome the interns.
If you see them around the College of Engineering (they’ll be wearing their uniforms), please say hi.
