In July, Ashley Pennington, Waiver Coordinator, traveled to Europe and visited Bosnia, Croatia and Serbia. Time was spent visiting family & friends in Bosnia & exploring southeastern Europe.

Joshua Ritchie, Case Manager, attended the third annual trip to South Africa through Living Hope Baptist Church. Josh enjoyed spreading the love of Jesus through outreach, acts of kindness, and ministry in the village of Acornhoek.
|

Dajana Crockett, Public Administration Specialist, recently spent two weeks traveling to the Republic of Serbia, a country situated at the crossroads of Central and Southeast Europe. When she wasn't spending time visiting her family, she was exploring a few of the country's many Serbian Orthodox Churches and Monasteries. She is pictured here in front of the Church of Saint Save in the capital city of Belgrade.

The Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet Division of Waste Management is calling for grant applications for two funding programs: illegal dump cleanup and litter abatement.

The Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM) and Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) grant programs will open October 1, 2018. Pre-applications will need to be submitted by Friday, October 26th, 2018. The FMA grant program provides funds on an annual basis for measures to reduce or eliminate risk of flood damage to buildings insured under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). The PDM grant program provides funds on an annual basis for hazard mitigation planning and the implementation of mitigation projects prior to a disaster. The goal of the PDM grant program is to reduce overall risk to the population and structures, while at the same time reducing reliance on federal funding from actual disaster declarations.

The Land & Water Conservation Fund Grant will be open December 1, 2018 through April 30, 2019. Eligible projects typically include, sports and playfields, picnic facilities, swimming facilities, boating facilities, fishing/hunting facilities, winter sports facilities, camping facilities, etc.

The Barren River Long Term Care Ombudsman Program is in need of Volunteers for our nursing homes in our 10 county area. If you love visiting/talking with seniors and you have a few hours a month to give back, we would love to have you join our Ombudsman family of volunteers.
