This is the third year of the teacher externship program. According to Tracey Scharmann, career-connected learning coordinator in the district's career and technical education department, the partnerships forged with local businesses foster an ongoing connection. Some employers have acted as guest speakers and mentors, as well as provided internship experiences for students.
Said Julie Landry of Clark Public Utilities, "We see the value in the extern program. It's an excellent investment in the future of our children across the district." She added, "We look forward to hosting teachers in the future. Let’s empower our teachers with as many tools as we can."
