In an effort to better communicate with students, the School of Cinema and Media Arts is transitioning to a weekly newsletter. Over the next couple of weeks, the individual emails you receive will be replaced by this weekly newsletter. Please send us any questions or comment. 









Coca-Cola/Regal Films Contest

The Coca-Cola Regal Films program is a professional opportunity for students to create content for the big screen. Students submit their script's for consideration and if accepted receive 15K to produce their spot on campus. The Red Ribbon Panel Grand Prize winner will be screened in Regal Theatre’s nationwide.  Please turn in final scripts to the CMA office or festival.coordinator@biola.edu by the end of TODAY, September 28th, in order to receive feedback and notes that could help in making a stronger submission.

Final submissions are due online by Oct.5.  online application
Email your script and signed budget to: cokeregalfilms@gmail.com.

Writing Competency Exam Sign-Ups

Before graduating from Biola, all students are required to pass the Writing Competency Exam.  Students are strongly encouraged to complete the in-class paper and submit the out-of-class paper the first semester of your junior year, to prevent possible unpleasant surprises later.

If you are currently a junior or a senior and you still need to fulfill the requirement, please register online at:

The exam will be given on the following dates this semester: 
Thursday, October 4th at 3-5pm or Friday, October 5th 10am-12pm in Grove 04B

Film Grant Application

With the launch of the School of Cinema and Media Arts this year comes a new opportunity to promote the use of film festivals to extend the reach of your hard work...

This year there are four grants offered each semester

Two $1,000 grants
One $750 grant
One $500 grant

Sundance Film Festival

Attend the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, UT from January 28th-February 3rd 

Sundance study tour takes place in the Spring semester, the cost of the class is equal to the cost of 2 units of tuition.  For $3374, you will receive 2 units of credit, airfare, lodging, ground transportation, a Sundance badge and movie tickets.  Here is a sheet that has more information about the trip. 

Deposits of $1000 are due by October 15th, and the balance will be due by November 15th.  This class is open to ALL students on a first come, first served basis, so start having conversations with your parents and peers.
