Brunswick Residents Network: State Election forums

Tuesday 30 October:
Brunswick Candidates Forum


Victorian elections will be held on 24 November.

Candidates for the seat of Brunswick (Lower House) are invited to speak on key areas like planning, infrastructure and traffic at this meeting organised by Brunswick Residents Network.

Confirmed include Cindy O'Connor (Labor), Tim Read (Greens) and George Gorgeous (Independent). Come along, meet the candidates and ask a question. Upper House candidates are also welcome to attend and share table space before the meeting (please contact Jo on the number below).

Come early  to meet candidates over a cup of tea.

Housing in crisis: Stop the Public Housing sell-offs.
Thursday 4 October, Brunswick Town Hall, 7pm


This meeting hs been called to inform the community about the consequences of the State Government's Public Housing Renewal Program, which involves the demolition and sale of nine inner city public housing estates.

BRUNSWICK PEACE FORUM
Tuesday 9 October at the Alderman Bar in Lygon Street East Brunswick,
gather from 6pm for 7pm forum. 


The Australian Living Peace Museum is organising a Peace Forum.  The purpose is to bring together activists and residents with the aim of building support for peace activism in the city.  Peace is defined in both a global and local sense; for example the spectrum from opposition to investment in military hardware  through domestic violence, racism and homophobia.  
  • Major speakers include Professor Richard Tanter from Nobel Peace Prize winner, ICAN Australia.
  • Local Greens, ALP and Socialist candidates in the Victorian State Elections will come to respond to issues raised by participants.

All Council meetings – held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month –  are normally held at: Council Chamber, Moreland Civic Centre, 90 Bell Street*, Coburg. Coming Council meetings are on:
  • Wednesday 10 October 2018
  • Monday 29 October 2018 Ceremonial Meeting (Tentative)
  • Wednesday 14 November 2018
  • Wednesday 12 December 2018
Check for all meeting details at the Council website. Council meetings can now be watched online, either live, or later - you can find details here along with the agenda for the next Council meeting.
  • * Hint: If you go to an evening meeting at 90 Bell Street and find the doors locked, you can probably get in through the back door via Urquhart Street.
